Spanglers, Vacuettes, Dodge Vipers, Emersons, and new in box 1900 fans!

WOW!

I just had my first official "fan meet" here in town with many friends from the Antique Fan collectors association. I officially joined the group too.

I asked my friend Dick Boswell, from Lincoln, if he could bring down his 1908 Spangler suction sweeper, since I could not make it to dinner at his house on friday night. He brought it along!

The meet was at a young car and antiques collector here in town not to far from me.

His house is a gorgeous huge 5,500 square foot victorian masterpiece! Its a work in progress, and will be done within 2 years and look just incredible. Its really coming along.

He has for cars, a 1949 White flat bad semi, which runs and drives.
A 1937 Hudsen sedan in original but poor undrivable shape.
A very well driving 1938 Plymouth Super Deluxe sedan in incredible original condition.
A late 2000 Honda sports bike in incredible awesome condition. Looks like it goes a tad FAST!
And a Jeep Wrangler for "normal" use!

His dad who was also there was displaying his 2000 Dodge Viper GTS, which was incredibly awesome!

Anthony has fans all over his house ranging from the late 1880s to the 1930s. Nothing newer than that.

People brought lots of fans to sell. Some original, some fully restored to brand new conditions. All just gorgeous in the sun.

It was a great time. I meet some great people.

NEW IN BOX FAN

I forgot to mention. Anthony has a new in box ceiling fan from 1900-1910. He turned it into a coffee table since the old box had no lid, and exposed the extremely nice fan. He put a big piece of glass over it for viewing! WIsh I had a pic!

The vacuum cleaners!

First pic, a Kirby I found in his closet upstairs! Looks to be an all original 514 or around there.

His AMAZING Kirby Wireless vacuette. All original.

The bag is like NEW! Just has some dust on it. These are in his attic, which he is currently refinishing. Thats why everything is dusty!

Hoover 543

His nice model 543. Dont know if thats the original bag. Might be!

Rare antique kenmore. Never seen one like it except one Stan kann had.

Sorry for the bad pic. This one was really dusty so its not very clear. Looks like a hoover but with a triangle looking motor cap.

Spangler

Anthony had some more vacuums, like a Lux XXX, Hoover Junior, and a green and chrome celebrity..

Anyways... my DREAM IS COMPLETE! I used a Hoover Model O! But its even better than a model O because its a Spangler!

Wow. One of the rarest vacuums on the planet!

ALL original. Ran so incredibly quiet and smooth. I have never heard a single model O that sounded better. All the other ones clanked and rattled badly. This one just purrs.

Didn't get to really use it since it was-

1) Outside
2) Weighs 41 pounds (tying back to it being outside!)
3) Has the ORIGINAL BELT which is rock solid stiff.

But we did find a light socket converted into a power switch since the machine runs through a light socket, not an outlet.

The front

Wow. Just look at this craftsmanship!

Tin, nails, and wood! The top and parts of the bottom of the machine are made of wood.

The fan is HUGE!!!!! Its made from an Emerson electric fan. And all the fan nuts go nuts when they look at it because it could not be more authentic than this!

Fans!

Ok fan time!

These first ones are fans inside Anthonys 1885 home. Many are appropriate to the home since they are not much newer than it is!

First, an amazing 1890 Robbins and Myers ceiling fan. He has two of these.

They weigh EIGHTY, 80 pounds each.

Next

His dinging room fan. Been modernized with lights, but the old copper body remains old school! Very unique. The whole ball spins with the fan.

An incredible restored GE circa 1900 on a front little guest book desk with a nice german clock next to it.

Here is his living room, again this house is a work in progress!

That is the other 1890 robbins and Myers ceiling fan.

There are probably a dozen ceiling fans in the house, all incredible. And tons more fans of course!

Each fan with plastic under them were brought by one member, who restored them himself.

There were a ton of fans for sale out here. Wish I brought a few hundred bucks!

My personal favorite is the left most brass bladed fan. But at $375 (I think) it was a tad too expensive for me.

Emerson, Just incredible craftsmanship.

They do NOT build them like they used to. A fact.

I can just imagine it running now. Super quiet and fast!

These things have such heavy rotors, that they take over a minute to stop.

old fans...

i have quite a few old fans too,1901 GE,several centurys-some
brass,westinghouse,GE vortalux,superlectric,polar cub,ETC.
For ceiling fans,have a westinghouse from around 1910 and a
robbins&meyers from 1985-its"old skool"

Do you have pics? I would love to see them. Sounds like you have some great fans!

I am on a dream hunt for a Pancake GE. Best fan ever made. You got an earlier one too! I presume it has the veined base, and trunnion or solid mount?

I have the 1925 Dayton 367 16" brass 'pizza' blade, and a 1950s pink 8" westinghouse with plastic blades.

Love them both to death. The Dayton is in the garage being stripped down for repainting.

Just a side note when restoring fans- Use European house paint for painting fans! Best results, hard finish. Kind of like a powder coating but more shiny.

Here's one of my newly acquired fans. It's an Emerson 79648-AP-G. "G" stands for Government Issue. These fans were never available to the public, so in order to get one, you had to pretty much 5 finger it off of a military base. Luckily, someone else did that for me!

Unlike the typical civilian 79648's, the Government ones had a dual bearing setup (with dual oil ports) as well as the highly efficient PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) motor. While it isn't dead silent like the 77648-AO, it's a really quiet fan for the amount of insane air it blows.

Next fan on the list to acquire is a nice pre-1950 GE Vortalex with 16" blades and a PSC motor.

I love the cage

The cages on those 79XXX series always looked awesome to me! Very deco.

I like that the government ones are hammertone too. Very very nice fan!
