no change

I have not noticed any change here. Wash DC metro area. I always buy on sale, and I don't eat meat with every meal so maybe I don't notice. Same with gas since I only fill up about 1 or 2 times a month.

I have a small stash of maple syrup, but I stopped consuming pancake and waffles a year or two ago, and it's kind of hard to waste it on coffee or cereal. Ice cream, maybe.

Having been born and partly raised in New England, I've always been partial to the lifeblood of the humble maple tree. But since the second part of my raising was in California, my horizons broadened and I've since discovered the joys of sorghum syrup and ribbon cane syrup. Good on ice cream.

Fake maple syrup really isn't worth the bottle it's put into, though.

I buy my Maple syrup from a farm in Dummerston Vermont. A gallon is $46 plus shipping.

Plus other things.....

grocey guy here....our chicken supplier had a water main break and lost an entire crop of birds.

insider's suggestion:

shop the meat department early on monday morning or early on any other day....the near-to-expiration product is often marked down then and good deals can often be found. also, it never hurts to chat up your friendly local meat guy, they can get deals that others will never hear of....

"Manager's Specials"

Been there, done that and shan't be doing so again.

Upon opening the packet the meat was so foul smelling and obviously near rotten that it put me off for the night. Tried to get a refund but was told "it was on special..."

Considering how long some supermarkets keep meats/poultry around here should have known better. It is rumored one supermarket near East Harlem takes expired polutry out of it's packets, washing the stuff in a strong bleach and water solution, then repackages for sale. Cannot say if this is true but all their chicken seems to have an odd grey colour.

I had bought a whole cut up chicken for 5.77 for the pack.
Wings on the other hand for eight was 3.45 which is a little high.
My mom would get High end Vermont Maple syrup and had it own special
occassions.
Normally Aunt Jemima lol.
Or Misses Butterworth's.

Chicken hell, what about the pigs??? Just paid $6.50 for a pack of bacon!

There is actually a burger chain where the cows on a billboard hold a "hoofmade" sign that says EAT THE CHIKKIN!

Chik-Fil-A, a chicken fast food chain, has signs like that: black and white cows holding signs that say "Eat Mor Chikken" and similar things.

Meat and veg.

Hi All, Still upto our armpits in water here I'm a vegetarian and vegetables are going through the roof. Soy from America is going up because of the heatwave.

It's getting to the point do I buy food or a new part for one of my washers.

stay away from Chick-fil--a

Chick-fil-a's finest gourmet creation. You can get a grease bib for 50 cents extra. They make 37 of these from one chicken.

The Chik Chik man said do I want a coupon ...
I said no thanks until the company lets everyone eat there
Those GAY PEOPLE are not welcomed or derserve your dry chicken
and dry waffle fries.
My mom liked Chikkes but I never cared anyway for the Food.
I'm glad I did not fuel them with buying there.

I ate at Chik twice. Not knowing their sociopolitics. The portions were stingy for the price and the quality 'adequate' nothing more. Had I known, never would.

I don't shop any fish-symbol business. I'm more Christian than anything. But the ones who flaunt it commercially would hate me if they knew me so I don't give them the opportunity.

Speaking of gross chicken..

I think Consumer Reports recently did an article on whole chicken and parts. Just about all the major brands, like Tyson and Foster Farms, had more bacterial contamination than one would like to consume.

The only brands that passed muster with low bacteria counts were the "organic" varieties... which of course cost two to three times what the mass produced sardine caged chickens cost. But if they don't result in the runs I suppose they are worth the extra $$$.
