My friend was complaining her clothes were coming out too wet in her 2006 SQ top load.

I replaced the belt which was worn and glazed. This improved matters but I think the machine still failed to hit full speed on the spin and the clothes were (in my opinion) wetter than my Maytag A712 which as a slower spin speed than the SQ.

Also, the motor felt overly hot to the touch afterward.

Thanks

Try increasing the tension on the spring.....

if anything, while spinning, try pulling back on the tensioner with your finger, most times you will hear the tub ramp up in speed.....

this will also improve rinsing, as more water is extracted during the first spin....

try pulling back on the tensioner

Thanks, tried that already, didn't have much effect, tension spring and pulley are only a few years old.

I think something is binding or dragging and slowing down the machine.
