Hello,
Our Speed Queen AWS412 is making a LOUD click noise during the wash cycle. It seems to coincided with the slight back and forth rotation of the stainless steel tube, not the agitator, motor, belt or pump.
So, the tub rotates a few degrees and makes a loud CLICK at the stopping point, then identically on the counter rotation. Is this common? IS this a problem?

The brake pads are probably a little worn and they are also a little dry if noisy. It’s not really hurting anything if the tub is not indexing too bad. The sound can be silenced by adding a very small amount of silicone grease to the pads but is not necessary.

I don’t believe I’m familiar with the model number posted. I probably do the job the hard way but it’s always worked great for me. You should use a silicone grease and I recommend sil glyde which is designed for this application.

Remove 2 screws in the lower portion of the machines front panel.

Slide the belt off of the large pulley by rotating it off

It helps to remove the motor assembly but is not necessary

There are 3 brake pads secured by 2 screws each from the bottom side

Remove the screws from one pad

Rotate the large pulley in the direction with the most resistance until it tops out

The brake rotor should now release this pad

Remove and apply a very minimal amount of sil glyde to the pad on both sides but not on the part of the pad where the screw holes are

Wind the pulley up again to release brake rotor and slide pad back in place

Reinstall screws

Repeat for the other 2
