Speed Queen leaking...

My Speed Queen Washer (pic attached...) has recently started leaking during the spin. I watched it with the front cover removed, and found that as the tub picks up speed, water is being thrown out of the tub through where the clips hold the top to the outer tub. This is only happening on a full load. I already know it needs a new belt, which will be ordered hopefully this week (the belt is worn down to the cords/threads). I am wondering if the belt is not slipping enough, and the pump is unable to keep up. The washer is agitating fine and the clothes are spun out thouroughly at the end of the cycle. It is leaking directly into a floor drain, but I would like to fix it before the machine starts rusting. Thanks!

Replace the belt. It is not slipping enough.

Not a second opinion, but some advice:  Plan on buying more belts in the future.  These machines, just like the Raytheon Amana we had, tend to go through them quickly.

This one is on its original belts, the pump belt seems ok, but the drive belt is shot. Our last speed queen, a 1994 model, went 11 years before the belt started slipping and it didnt spin well. This one is older, but I am not sure how old exactly.

Sure... It really is a fabulous washer, it cleans so well and is much more fun to watch than the Maytag Performa upstairs!

Pump

You might also want to take a look at the pump impeller. If debris wraps around the impeller enough, it can degrade pump performance.

Sweet. I wish Alliance used the same agitator cap in their later models. We removed it altogether on our AWS76 because we kept slicing our hands on the edges of it.

belt

Go to local hardware store and get a Clutching Drive Belt. They are designed to slip will last longer cheeper too. Take old one with you. Ace or Gill Roys are both very helpful.

Check the pump. or check the tub. It just deppends on what side your pump is on. If it is leaking under the side the pump is on obviously it is the pump or the hose coming to the pump or the hose leaving the pump. Take the front panel off and fun it on the regular cycle. Look for the leak.
