I bought a Speed Queen top loader in 2014, from what I recall it was the last year before they became computerized. It's a great machine! But the other night we had a storm and it seems to have taken a hit. When I went to use it this morning I found the breaker had popped (the machine was not on during the storm). I reset the breaker and the washer is working but it's not going through the cycles. Thankfully it is turning the water off when it gets to the level it's set at.

I am able to manually change the cycles but that's kind of a pain.

What happened this morning once I reset the breaker:
I set it up to do a heavy, hot water load, and went back upstairs. I came back down awhile later figuring it would be done but could hear it agitating, so I figured it was in the rinse cycle and I went upstairs again. Came back down again and it was still agitating so I went to the basement to investigate and found it was still sitting in the same beginning of the cycle location.

I moved it to the spin setting and it spun fine. I stood and watched it for a couple of minutes and the knob didn't advance. I then moved it to the rinse setting, it refilled and I let it agitate for a bit, then I moved it to the final spin.

At no time am I hearing any odd noises. I haven't tried any other cycles on the washer, this is just the one that starts at the top of the dial, regular washing.

Thanks for any guidance.

Sounds like the timer motor went out. You can ohm out the motor, a good motor should be roughly around 3000 ohms. The fix would be a new timer. Timers are relatively easy to change out.

Do you have a model #?

Timer not advancing on a Speed Queen washer

It sounds like you’ve lost the timer motor on your timer normally the complete timer assembly is replaced as a unit although it is possible to replace just the timer motor if you can find one.

If you can supply the complete model number, I can give you the part number for the timer and the availability of it, if you can supply a picture of the timer in your machine by opening up the console, I can see I may have a good timer motor that I could sell you much cheaper than a complete timer.

Hi yes, I wasn't able to edit the post. It's AWN432SP111TW01

Timer makes sense - I suspected that after looking through the parts list.

Thanks!

Curious why Speed Queen does not provide a timer motor for separate purchase rather than buying a whole new timer.

Maybe I'm just stuck in the old days of logical sense, which is quickly disappearing.

Here is the pic. This actually seems to be the least expensive of the 5 timers listed for this model. I haven't tested it though (except it still doesn't advance when I wash clothes!) Is it worth trying to replace just the timer if anyone has one or should I just get the whole unit? Monitoring the machine in the basement is getting old!

Thanks!

Or this one:

They may be the same.

Thanks! I found the first one last night. You're right, they seem to be the same even though shipping is different. Taking the plunge!

Low Laundry

Definitely do not recommend LOW. I will be lucky if I get that part by Oct 15. I've ordered appliance parts from a number of places over the years and this one is the worst.
