I am new to this site and have always had an interest in vintage washers. I am going to purchase a new T/L when I move. I am very much considering a SQ T/L because of the substantial warranty. I also briefly thought about a GE Hydrowave T/L w/ agitator. Any thoughts? Also does anyone know if the fabric switch on the new SQ is another name for speed switch?
Thanks,

I would prefer the Speed Queen if it were me. I would also assume that the fabric switch controls the agitation and spin speeds.

definately the speed queen!!! u cant even compare the two! ge is all plastic! speed queen is all metal like they USED to be, the newer GEs have alot of trouble anyways. PLUS the speed queen is MADE IN AMERICA! it is always good when something is made here, 90 percent of the newer front loaders are all made in eaither mexico or korea, i DONT know why!

Speed Queen for sure!

All I own are SQ's! Built like a tank and work year after year. The fabric switch selector is the speed switch. All the years of doing my permanent press I never realized that a slower spin speed would take out the wrinkle issues on my dockers or dress shirts. It was a revelation for me!

speed queen

I would have to say that it would have to get a Speed Queen.I grew up with G.E. filter flos and they were good but there are too many issues with the new ones or any new one for that matter. Carl

SPEED QUEEN !

without hesitation and/or without question SPEED QUEEN !!!, just bought one and love it !! I think it is literally the best constructed top-loader made and for that matter, the only one made with the quality of machines much past !!

SPEED QUEEN!

Definitely the Speed Queen.

The remaining SQ at my local coin op still exists from the 80s to now. So definitely.
