Speed Queen TC5000WN: Possible to Skip to End of Cycle?

I have a Speed Queen TC5000WN washer and recently washed a very bulky mattress pad that completely filled the tub. This was done on the Delicate cycle/Extra Rinse so as to not damage the pad due to the agitator motion.

I wished to rinse the pad one additional time (on top of the two previous rinses) to ensure all of the liquid soap had been removed, but could not figure out a way to run just a rinse/spin cycle while in Delicate mode.

Running the Delicate cycle a second time with no laundry liquid soap gave me two full cycles (wash then rinse).

Running a Spin Only cycle filled the tub with water, but the agitator was more aggressive than that of the Delicate cycle.

I could figure no way to engage only a Rinse/Spin, nor to run a full Delicate cycle but skip directly to Fill Rinse/Drain/Spin without going through a Wash segment first.

The best I can figure out is to do the initial wash in Delicate without the Extra Rinse option, then run the full Delicate cycle again with no soap to get the three rinses.

Any other way to do do this? Any way to skip to the next segment of a cycle? Any way to do a Spin cycle with the Delicate agitator action?

The rinse/spin cycle is hardwired as an indepent cycle set. Cannot be forced to be incorporated into a specific cycle concept.

One question that is somewhat related. If I have a tub full of water/laundry and wish to quit the entire cycle, how do I get all the water out of the tub short of letting the cycle fully complete or bailing the water out of the tub?

You would be able to run just a spin only cycle, but it would be a high speed spin.

I tried a Spin cycle only, but when I attempted it earlier today the tub filled with water for a few seconds (it was already full), then agitated at full speed which is not what I wanted.

I'll see if that behavior happens again.

When you just want it to spin, make sure you don't have extra rinse selected when you select the spin cycle. When both are selected it will fill, rinse, and then spin.

I just thanked god for my European FL with fully electronic controls that can handle mattress pads as a matter of course with the right programming. And do the job properly without having to set extra cycles.

A Delicate extra rinse can be had manually by starting on Delicate, agitating for a few minutes of the wash period, cancel the cycle, and run a Spin-only (which will be at high speed but that won't hurt a mattress pad, and will shorten the drying time).

As I recall, we tried the rapid advance thing on another thread and neither of us could get it to work.

For one thing, there is no Extra Rinse button, and holding the start button for 3 seconds cancels the cycle entirely no matter what knobs you have selected, including Extra Rinse. So the whole thing just seemed to make no sense. But if someone else gets it to work please let us know.

I haven't tried it, it would be interesting to see if you really can get a slow spin that way.

Wow! I answered my question years ago and have no memory of knowing that information! I'm almost more concerned about my lack of memory than solving this problem!

I look forward to trying that method to see if Rapid Advance works.

Let us know how it works, but looking at it again I'm thinking it still doesn't quite answer your original question. It appears it just skips to the final spin and you still won't get a delicate rinse, even if it gives a slow spin. Unlike the "rapid advance" that's supposed to step through each segment of the cycle but seems to require a nonexistent button. (As I recall I did try pressing the only two "buttons" it has, deep fill and start, simultaneously and it didn't work.)

OK, a month has gone by and I've just washed the bulky mattress pad again. And the "hold the start/pause button" method of skipping directly to Spin worked.

I first did a "Delicate with Extra Rinse and Pre-Soak"; that gave me one wash and two rinses. I then re-engaged the "Delicate" with the options dial set to zero. The tub filled and began to agitate. I then held the start/stop button for 8+ seconds and the machine skipped directly to spin.

I shouldn't be surprised that this worked, as I clearly posted that this worked about two years ago. But, I had completely forgotten it. Thanks to WindRivers for reminding me.

Also thanks to whomever reminded me that running a spin cycle with "extra rinse" option engaged would fill the tub again. Running the spin cycle w/o the extra rinse gave me spin only. Thanks!
