Hello SQ experts. I'm so happy to have found this website to help clear the confusion on which mfg to choose for my new W/D. I've narrowed it down to SQ and SQ. Let's pretend money is no object and water conservation is not an issue, but clean clothes and thorough rinses are huge issues. What do y'all recommend? And to your recommendation, manual or electronic? Also, any idea on what the justification is to price their FL at $2400? Is it worth it and why? Thank you for your help.

Anyway, if you want advanced clean clothes thouroughly rinsed, I'd say electronic. Offers you an automatic pre wash, soak, 2nd and even 3rd rinse.
The TLs have a certain reputation for rinse difficulties with heavy and absorbent loads.
Washing is often a debate, but most people agree that FL outperforms TL in that matter.
And we all know that more rinses always adds up better then deeper rinses as long as there are interim spins. And even if water consumption does not matter, the FL still offers 1 rinse more. And uses way less as well. (Imagine a 4 fill cycle on the TL. Guzzels 80+ gallons.)
I'd go FL.
The price probably is connected to the advanced motor (AFAIL they use some kind of inverter technology), the way more elaborate dampening system and the more solid bearings (while the TL bearings are basicly only put under force during spins, the FL bearing has to carry the drum weight including laundry all the time). And it has some few more parts (pump motor, door lock, door seal etc.).

Front Load All the Way
I have the SQ Front Load and recommend it over the SQ top load washer. It uses 1/3 the water, has greater capacity, is gentler on your clothes and it washes better than my previous top load washer. On the other hand the top load costs less.

New SQ TL vs FL Washers
As a SQ dealer the FL is the real deal, while we sell more TL SQs they are mainly sold to older people that do not adjust to change well, we also sell a lot of TLers because of price and because they are smaller and fit in tight laundry spaces better, We have a lot old homes in the DC area with narrow basement doors etc.

I love my new SQ TL
Thank you to all the previous replies. I ended up getting the TL for several reasons. First and foremost, the cycles are so much shorter than my old 2006 WP Duets, I got my laundry done in literally half the time yesterday. Second, no question the full water level TL rinses more thoroughly. As a test, I ran a load of clean towels (previously washed in the Duet) thru a rinse cycle. The rinse water was not sudsy, but was soapy, and definitely not clear like it should have been. This proved to me what I long suspected, my Duets were not rinsing as well as I prefer. Third, the hot water setting is straight out of the hot water tank located about 10 feet away. I have mine set at 130 F so I get a true hot water wash. Fourth, this set takes up much less space in my utility room. I can now access the above cabinets without using a stepladder to do so. All in all, I am very, very happy with my new SQs.

sketteroo - I bought a top load SQ in March. I have read posts here and other places where people seem to not like the SQ top load, how much water it uses, and how it rinses. Here are my thoughts - I had a GE Adora for 2 1/2 years - transmission and bearing went out. It primarily used the spray rinse but had an option to also have a full rinse. After a while of using the spray, I started using the full all the time. However, when I got my new washer, I rinsed some things that had already been washed in the GE and just as you did I found suds coming out. I never saw any suds in the GE when I rinsed so not sure why except it just didn't agitate well at all (wash or rinse). I have had to alter how much detergent I use due to the SQ agitating so much better but since my husband did the clothes pin trick I can watch to see if I need more detergent or need to use less in the next loads. Yes, I guess I am old fashioned and as someone said -- older and don't adjust to change very well, but I love my washer. It is a lot like the Maytag I had for 16 years.

but I do remember how well my first w/d set performed (1992 TL Whirlpools). They are still running strong in our garage apt, while my 2006 Duets...notsomuch. So it's not that I'm old and averse to change, but rather that I tried the change and it's not as good as the original.

Nothing washes clothing faster than a conventional top loading machine.
My 2004-era GE washer could do a load in about 25 minutes. Even my Huebsch FL (Aka Speed Queen) takes about 40 minutes for a load.
What front loaders make up for capacity and cost savings, top loaders make up for it in just outright speed and rinsing ability. (Provided they're not just spray rinsing, but deep rinsing.)
