I though I had posted this yesterday, but I cannot find the thread so 2nd try. I picked up a mint Speed Queen Wringer Washer with a 2 stage motor, pump and excellent condition rollers and the wringer works perfectly. I cannot get it to agitate. I read in an old post about taking the 6 bolts out and removing the agitator post assembly and lubricating it. I tried this and I can only lift the post upwards about an inch perhaps and it will go no further. My suspicion is since the cork gasket under the assembly is pretty much gone, water has been getting in and the activator is rusted onto the bottom of the post, hence when turning the switch on for the agitator, very little happens. Yesterday I asked about getting a new gasket. Lehmans used to carry, but I will have to call as there is nothing on their website. My plan is to remove the bolts again and then get some penetrant spray in there to try and free it up. Is this a safe plan? The transmission is working as the roller work and I have had the agitator move a little here and there. Also if I cannot get a new seal, what material is recommended to use to make one? It is a pre-Raytheon Model 702P. I have not been able to find anything related to that specific model either. Picture of Tag attached. Thank you
Jon
