Spotted: New flavor of Tide at Target

The new scent is "Fresh Coral Blast", which seems to translate to "More Perfumey Blast". Also they've apparently lowered the price of Tide liquid 92 and 100 oz bottles plus the 75 oz Tide Purclean.
Are they feeling the heat from competition or something?

The overpowering fragrances on all the liquids is the main reason I don't use them.  The Tide powder is still fine, the scent is mostly gone when the clothes come out of the dryer. 

 

People must like the strong the fragrances though, there's no other explanation for it.  I used Gillette clinical strength antiperspirant for years until they changed the scent to something so strong it was unbearable.

 

P&G is also out of control on product variations and sizes.  Look at the chart of paper towel sizes.  It looks like somebody made it up as a joke!

They've been even worse about that with Charmin lately and it's pissing me off. They also have been changing the dimensions of a single sheet too, they went back to a wider width like it used to be but then made it shorter. Then the next time around it was the narrow/longer sheets again. Idk what to do because I've never come across any other TP I liked.

I don't have any issue with the Original scent in liquid form being too strong in the finished product, I just don't care for the scent period. Persil or Mountain Spring (old original tide) are much stronger. Gain Original is my favorite.

It's a version that uses some plant based/natural ingredients. It's sort of between Seventh Generation and regular Tide.

 

I think they say it's more expensive because of ingredients used. Although they also may be looking at the fact that regular green detergents are $$$, and pricing accordingly.

 

I got a bottle last spring on sale for something like $3 or $4 when all the store's deals kicked in. It's probably not as powerful as regular Tide--at least that's my sense--but it worked well for me. Although my needs are mostly freshening, not dealing with really filthy laundry.

Having read dictionary definitions of 'coral' I can't imagine why a corporation would green-light a scent called 'Fresh Coral Blast.'

Will have to check out Tide's website, pull up my two-monitor spreadsheet of the detergent's variations and figure out which scent was shown the door.

Scent

This was discussed on THS GardenWeb. The Coral Blast smells like a little girl's cheap perfume. They also introduced a new Tide Oxi. It smells decent, but is strong in typical P$G fashion. Someone also mentioned that there is a new Finish Quantum pack as well.

where do they get these names....or even the thought that the name would resemble the actual scent....

Forest Fresh....???.....an actual forest may have crisp air, but rotting wood and deer droppings is not exactly how I want my laundry to smell...

although, I could see washing clothes in a running stream of cedar water...or the spray of the ocean...

but then again, ocean water is more salty than flowery....and the only scent you would find on a beach is coconut, but that's from all the suntan lotion everyone has on, not the natural scent...

I also hate strong scents in detergent. Unfortunately, I'm using liquids exclusively these days, due to practical realities of availability in my area...

 

Although I do often get unscented. I particularly like unscented in summer when I line dry. I want the real outdoor scent, not a detergent maker's idea of a fresh spring breeze. (Detergent makers: does the fresh spring breeze really smell so eye wateringly awful where you live?!?)

"Fresh Coral Blast"? I can't even begin to imagine what coral smells like - I would think it would depend on what's in the water it happens to be in. What color is this detergent - a pinkish orange? If it smells like cheap perfume, I'd sure not buy any.

Paper towel roll size - you can say that again! It's got to the point that I need to remember to take a calculator to figure out which package has the least price per sheet. Recently I've been buying either the mega or huge roll, as I tend to use a lot of paper towels.

I have a bottle now since I 'had' to try it out once it dries. It smells quite strong although isn't horrible when used on towels since the scent dies dramatically. It does perform as expected from Tide liquids.

I'm also a die hard Tide with Bleach Powder guy. I detest the "scented" liquid detergents = But to each his own as they say.
