Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I though I was going to join a new club: The Mixmasters but saw it was a cheap thing. ALL plastic through out (and I mean ALL...) and missing the beater. I'll wait until something else older and nicer shows up...

I don't know how it compares to the Sunbeam, but that Hamilton Beach was our house mixer growing up and it did a fine job. Nothing like a KitchenAid, but the cakes got mixed.

Don't know about the ironers, but the Hamilton Beach model K mixer is a good one. It's very similar to my Sears CounterCraft, and is from the 70's - 80's. I bought mine as a Christmas gift for my Mom around '82 or so. This was the heavy-duty model, as HB also had a cheaper plastic body stand mixer that didn't hold up real well.

As for that HB drink mixer, that's a recent "household use only" copy of their famous malt machine. Probably wouldn't last 2 days in a diner. I saw one in a store, and thought why would Hamilton Beach stoop so low? Like you said, all plastic. Wouldn't take much to knock it over. If I get a malt machine, it will be either a vintage one, or a modern HB commercial model which are much better made.

Ironrite

I had one of the later ones, was great, when I moved I didnt have room for it so Jerry...aka easyspindry got it,he is more of a pro with it than I was, does all his shirts and everything,it takes a little practice but your clothes look professionally done.

Pieces Is Parts

I have beaters and turntable for you if you'd like. If the model you have has two small holes by the front of the handle and at the rear of the handle you've hit pay dirt. They are ports for oiling. The newer self lubricating run hotter and have a hard time hitting the upper speeds. The beaters excell at creaming and whipping. The movable turntable on the slide lets you move the bowl from the edge to the center to get it all mixed. Down sides are that heavy batters push the beaters away from the edge of the bowl so you need to lean on the bowl adjust and the Hamilton is a touch less powerful than the Sunbeam. All in all they are a good mixer.

Cool Ironrites! I've got a Whirlpool model that's probably from the early '50s, and looks similar to that white Ironrite. Getting ready to find it a new home, in fact, because I don't have room for it. Kinda bums me out.
