Someone asked me about this, so I thought I'd share...

I thought I'd show off how large the dispensers are in the SQ/Huebsch machines.

I'm holding a cup off of a container of Snuggles.

I apologize for the not so great photo..

Wow, the dispenser is nice and clean! How long have you had your machine?

That's one thing I was wondering. From time to time, I pull my current dispenser out and clean it and the inlet holes up top. The SQ user guide says you need a special tool to remove that drawer.

Dispenser

The dispenser on the SQ FL machine is its only fault, IMO.

Because the drawer empties to the back of the machine, when liquid detergent is added, it runs immediately out into the outer shell of the dispenser drawer. Coating the drawer housing underneath. Then you close the drawer and the detergent never gets rinsed cleanly away from that surface.

I find it best to add detergent to the drum directly and skip the drawer altogether.

Speed Queen needs to come up with a liquid detergent insert for this drawer.

Exactly

I dont use liquid that often, but yes my current machine does that too. I can hear the liquid running out and down. I wonder if it would be prudent then to get the tool just to have it on hand?

Malcolm, can you take a picture of your drawer removal tool and post it here?

I got mine, but it looks like a simple piece of bent aluminum. I've never removed my drawer, but then again, I can't really figure out how.

I could make lots of jokes about drawers here, but I'll refrain.

Tek, To answer your question, I've owned this machine for about 3 months now. We've been using powdered Kirkland detergent and liquid Tide (Both Non-HE) in the machine, we've both been experiencing great washing results.

Does it still flush the bleach at the start of the main wash or has that been corrected so that the chlorine does not interfere with enzyme detergents? On the front loaders I used, the drawer could simply be pulled out. Probably because other students at the dorm abused the drawers enough to break the mechanism. Then again, it was a good thing because I could wash the drawer before I used the washer as they were super filthy.

Hmmmmm... By the looks of things it seems the bleach dispenser is a bit larger than the fabric softener dispenser. I wonder how the dispenser works on this machine? Does it have separate fill solenoids for each compartment or is there some kind of diverter? If it has separate solenoids, I bet I could switch the hoses for the bleach and softener!

I couldn't tell you guys... I suspect it is a diverter, but I'm not sure.

I can definitely say that it seems like the fabric softener gets dispensed in the second rinse, because I can see the water beading up on the glass differently.

I personally found that the amount of fabric softener this machine uses when you fill it up all of the way is more than adequate for getting the job done. (You fill it up to the plastic which is embossed with the logo.)
