I remember hearing on here from several members that SQ's were terrible at rinsing. I have noticed in the short time I've had mine that nearly every load has a few items covered in white detergent residue. I use liquid Tide HE turbo so it really shouldn't be happening. The marks are removed in the dryer so not really an issue for me. Besides the cleaning ability of the washer more than makes up for this! I've got pillowcases, hand towels, and shirts that I thought were pretty much ruined come out looking brand new!

Is this the new swishy/swirly SQ or the old school kind?

I had the '97 Amana equivalent and it was bad at rinsing, but not as bad as you've described.

I have a SQ TC5 purchased this summer and get excellent rinsing using the "ECO" setting with "Extra Rinse" selected.

Without Extra Rinse option, water is sprayed onto the clothing that is slowly spinning, the a spin cycle. WITH the Extra Rinse option, I get back-to-back full water fills with agitation. Then spin cycle.

I see no reason these should rinse any worse than other traditional top load washers. It does a 50 second spray rinse and a tub full of water on the rinse cycle (for the heavy duty wash). And that said that’s also been my experience comparing to other traditional top loaders like DD WP’s or a Maytag DC.
It rinses a hell of a lot better than the previous front loader we had which often couldn’t get odors out, and the detergent/softener smell was much stronger.

When in "ECO" mode, and with "EXTRA RINSE" selected, I get two full fill-up-the-tub rinses. With extra rinse NOT selected (i.e. "normal") it get one spray rinse only.
