Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I have a 1950 model. No drain hose, and an enameled tub. You position the washer over the floor drain and pull the knob out to open the drain. Works like a dream and still very quiet while running. Was my Grandmother's from 1950 to 2004. Won't ever sell it, too many memories to part with it.

Speed Queen!!!

That machines looks like its has a history, nice one,do these machines have the 210d arc etc like the later machines??

Is that second link image reversed?? did they have the wringer attached on the right??

Cheers, Mike

p.s. Super Forum?? can we have clarification on whats what?? it was my understanding that Imperial was pre 1985, De-lux was post 1985 & Sandbox was Laundry Detergent, other vintage appliances ( including vacs) and off topc stuff...

So

Wringers & Twin Tubs,??!!

Nice machines! I myself like the second one--how I wish these beautiful vintage wringers were closer! Would love to find a working SQ or Maytag E2L of my own one of these days...

Hi Mike, for me it depends on the machine, brand, and age. I definitely understand about someone posting early, ugly, unusual wringers (with copper tubs that rock back & forth, etc.) here, as it doesn't even fit in with our general "theme" to begin with. However, I do believe that the automatic-era wringers and twin-tubs should be discussed in the Imperial forum, as most are very interesting for most of us to hear about, IMHO. After all, they're WASHERS (made until the 1980's no less), and the Super forum should be for the small appliances and everything else...just my $0.02.
