So, whats it's gonna be folks? A Pajamagram, Vermont Teddy bear, 1-800-Flowers. Do you feel pressured to spend a fortune? Do you think this is to commercialized? Dinner & a movie? We will probably have Seafood and play the slots a couple of hours, we have enough "stuff". But you have to admit even the biggest "frownie face" in your office beams, when they get roses @ work. A card on the day Hallmark Cards says is special--eh not so impressive. Saint Valentine IIRC is not a saint in my brand of voo-doo (religion).
I hear that in Japan, Saint Valentine's day is the one where women go after the men. There is antoher day for men to go after women.
Maybe we need a day in June (think Stonewall rebellion) for XY to go after the XY. LOL

This will be the first year in 8 years that I am single again so it will just be like any other day.

No choice but to curb spending this year....
What with still being out of work and all, I am going to reign in the Valentine's Day expenses this year. I will do a nice dinner in (maybe make something fancy like Beef Wellington) and I am going to try and make chocolate truffles (I am absolutely untalented at making candies and confections...) for Hubby. THEN, I will tell him about a 56 Frigidaire dishwasher I found... LOL

As usual all my life, single and it's pretty much another day. Glad it won't be at work. But, I started last year making a very nice dinner for myself and will do the same again, just not sure though, since I've been doing a lot more cooking anyway.
Valentines day and our anniversary are the same day. This year will be our 39th. Since it is on Sunday this year We will take in the early show of Avatar then on to dinner somewhere nice. The past few years we have not bought gifts or flowers. We just go out and get away from it all. Dano

I read a story about a couple who decided to stay home, enjoy each other's company and give what they would normally spend to a Haiti earthquake relief charity. It was a good story and certainly a good cause so my son and I decided to do the same thing. We typically don't spend much, but every little bit will help those in need and as Steve said, love can and should be expressed every day.
