Stacked Maytags

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I dream about having one of those someday. (gas dryer, of course)

Actually, "accidentally" my collection is turning into a mostly Maytag collection.

I can say I love Maytags... All of the ones I have surprised me, specially the Neptune stacked that has a performance way better than I was expecting.

I still want to have a Neptune TL, a Neptune washer only (with LED display) and a Maytag Atlantis (which is not an absolutely perfect washer, but has its charm with that slant lid.)

MT Stack

I think it is new enough that it came with the orbital transmission.

Its no bargain at $350 as it looks like it had a lot of use, these are still on the scrap heap every week, I have a gas one with electro-mechcanel controls that I am going to part out and scrap, there is just no demand for machines this old in the used appliance market.

MT TL Stack

came out in 1985, they were were all electronically controlled four around 4 years then they brought out a slightly cheaper model with electro-mechcanical controls, after another few years they dropped the electronically controlled version.

These stack MTs went away right after WP bought out MT.

Stack Mts were and are good money makers for us repair guys, they used most of the same parts as Mts regular W&D, so they had many of the same problems. Loose blowers and bad rollers & idler pulleys in the dryers, bad center seals, water injector, WL switches and main drive belts on the washers.

Overall these MT stacks were just average in durability and had lots of problems with vibration due to the fact the machine has EIGHT FEET and EIGHT LOCK-NUTS on the feet that all need to be adjusted properly for the machine to be reasonably stable.   { it almost never happens }

After WP bought MT they put the Maytag name on the much more reliable and larger capacity Whirlpool 27" Super Thin-Twin.
