Is there any list that anyone knows of regarding celebreties and thier personal appliances they own? I remember seeing an interview with Barbara Streisand and they did a tour of her house and remember seeing a KA dishwasher. Does any one else out there know of any?

The Osbournes

I know the Osbournes have a Maytag set, both front loading with touch screen panels, i don't know the exact models but we get to see them on the Series ONe DVD in the special features, its only a quick glance but long enough to see what they were.

Matty :)

On two different interview/news shows (20/20 I think) I saw in the mid to late 90s Carol Burnett had a Maytag Dependable Care and Dwight Yoakum had an older Maytag pair.

Davey, This might be information way older than your quest or interest, but from the end of WWII up through the 60s and 70s, ads in the so-called shelter magazines like Better Homes & Gardens, sometimes used celebrities to endorse products. Fred MacMurray (sp?) and his wife June used to pose with gas appliances, including the WP gas combo, even though on My Three Sons, in the good early days, the kitchen had a Frigidaire Custom Imperial range and a lower end of the line Frigidaire laundry pair.
Bing Crosby was pictured with something domestic at one time, but that was before his sons started committing suicide because of their abusive childhoods. After that, I don't think he was such a sure draw.
In an early 1950s issue of BH&G, the cover had a picture of Dinah Shore in the kitchen at her California home. She was married to the actor George Montgomery. She was photographed cooking on the weirdest electric cooktop I have ever seen. Actually the tour of a celebrity's home was a feature that regularly appeared in those magazines in the 50s and 60s. I always looked through them to see the kitchen appliances. I remember the home of Dennis Day. They had a bunch of little kids and had two Frigidaire spray tube dishwashers from the early-mid 60s. I believe that there was a place near the back of the issues where it was possible to find the names of the appliances and furnishings in the articles. For many years BH&G also had an index to advertisers and Appliances, Major was the first heading so you could see the wonderful ads for your favorite brand or category of appliances.

Elton John's Amana W/D

A while back there was a listing on eBay for Elton Johns Amana washer and dryer. They were older full computer control panel. I believe they were in Chicago? someone had purchased them from a friend of a friend of Elton John?

Jayne Mansfield had a pink 1965 Lady Kenmore set--according to a former Sears repairman who attempted to sell a wad of Jayne's pink dryer lint on eBay.

don't forget Lucy and Hoover...

Lucille Ball's famous Hoover areodyne ad, as well as her using Hoover cleaners( a model 29 and 62) in the first season of "I love Lucy"
Lucy loved her Hoover!

Ozzie and Harriet were big advertisers of Hotpoint appliances in the early to mid 50's. There are lots of ads with them pitching Hotpoint washers and dryers. Also, Pearl Bailey did a series of ads for Westinghouse washers in the 70's, and before that Lucy and Desi were spokespeople for Westinghouse appliances in the late 50's. Jane Wyatt from "Father Knows Best" TV show did an early 70's ad for TOL Kenmore washer and dryer. The list goes on and on..........Im still nuts over the Snowy Bleach ads on TV that Phyllis Diller used to do........Those were a hoot!

And don't for get that Ronald Reagan was also a spokesman for GE in the early-mid'50's too. In fact, GE built a home for him in which everything was electric.

The 1964 and onward Ozzie & Harriet had the same Norge Pair our family had. An episode of DesiLu Playhouse had Tellulah with Hotpoint washer, dryer, dishwasher, cooktop, and double oven.

And then there were the Kenmore ads

Various celebrities, and associates did print ads for Kenmore in the 70s...

Mrs Dave Brubeck did a Lady Kenmore laundry ad.

Rosemary Bowe (Mrs. Robert Stack) did a Kenmore sewing machine ad.

Jean Kerr did a Kenmore eye-level range ad.

I think there may have been a few others, but those are the ones I remember.

The rubric was along the lines of: " '______ ________' can afford any______ s/he wants. S/he has a Kenmore."

Lawrence/Maytagbear

an Infamous former star

OJ Simpson, in his Brentwood California abode, had an early 1980's electronic Lady Kenmore set.

Kenmore ads

Rosemary Clooney did an ad for Lady Kenmore washers and dryers

Eve Arden did an ad for Kenmore Eye Level self cleaning ranges

Anne Baxter did an ad for The Coldspot sxs fridge

FYI Earlier it was mentioned that Erma Bombeck had Maytags, while that may be true I happen to know that in the 70's she was partial to GM Frigidaire because in one column she tells had she had to pay a washer repair man $25 to retrieve one of her kids class rings from under the pulsator (her words) of her washer and in another she mentions that washer was pulsating. Also I have a 1971 Life article on her that shows her leaning up against the washer in her utility room and although you can see the control panel the cabinet looks very much like that of a 1-18. I think the reason she may have been partial to GM Frigidaire is because she is from Dayton Ohio and her mother worked for years in a GM plant.
