Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Wiljan brought me lots of detergent

Now I have all my favorite European detergents at home with me. It wasn't easy getting past customs with all this. I was searched and the detergents were tested for drugs! In the end, all was OK and I was cleared to take them home.

Staber

The machine you are admiring looks a lot like a Staber. I just a few weeks ago worked on one successfully repairing it. They're pretty much easy to work on. The parts are just so fragile being made mostly of plastic. i wound up having to use a pull tie to keep the sump hose in an upright position. The hose was just hanging there and had kinked which left water in between the tubs during and after the final spin.Once I remounted it,it took off and extracted all the water draining it all out completely.I ordered a new commercial one for our laundromat.

Eddy!

Great pictures! Thank you for posting them! I am looking forward to the videos that you and Wiljan made. We had lots of fund creating them, I am sure others will enjoy them too.

Ofcourse white powders from the Netherlands are suspect... No wonder they didn't trust you. LOL

BTW, I'll have to get one of those gowns!

Chuck,

The machine I am admiring is a Whirlpool toploader. It's much smaller than a Staber but it can hold around 10 lbs of laundry. There was certainly something wrong with that machine, the inner lid was stuck. These Whirlpools are made in Italy and are cheaply made.

Great pics Eddy....glad you had a great time...seems like time flies when your having fun, goes in no time...

I think you may have enjoyed the strip search a little too much, you can't go back for seconds....never a pole around when you want one....lol

looks like you packed lite, we like a low maintenance guy...nice goatee too...does the carpet match the drapes? or is it linoleum as in a "smoothie"?....inquiring minds want to know!

Those are great photos! Louis never ages! Thanks for sharing them.
I would have gotten in trouble for trying to smuggle too much of that Dixan detergent back with me------I just LOVE the fragrance!

Let's have a peek around Louis' laundry room

This is the main area.

It really was great

Wow Eddy, nice pictures! :) Love them :)

Yeah, we most certainly had lots of fun. And those smoothies were delicious :)

Thank God you were able to get this past customs. LOL
I really love those detergents you gave me as well! :D They smell very nice.

~Louis never ages!

Oh Steve, thank you very much! But to be honest, I wasn't born with grey hair. LOL

I got to mention here that Eddy brought me a wonderful bottle of Canadian icewine aaaaaand... a bottle of the best Maple Syrup I ever had. THANKS!!!

I saw your other videos on Youtube, they turned out great. My favourite is the Philips filling for the rinse.

Wiljan,

I can't thank you enough for putting new shock absorbers on my AEG frontloader. I myself am all thumbs so I need to rely on people like you who are very handy.

Louis

Totally OT...

When did they electrify that beautiful gas light in the Groningen railway station. I was shocked last week!

What great pictures - and Louis, don't forget to take your fur that you bought at the estate sale in Minneapolis with your when trying on those gowns! (BTW, did you ever get the smell out of that fur?)

Glad you guys had a good time - a few of us have talked about doing the very same thing and making a 'washing trip of terror' through Europe!

Theo,

The gas light in the hall was removed in in the sixties when the hall was modernized. the ceiling and most of the ornaments were hidden behind white hardboard. In the nineties the hall was restored and the lantern was brought back into the hall. Actually I'm not sure if that is the original one.

Greg,

Don't you hate the smell of mothballs! LOL

Hmm,

I'm sure that that lantern in the hall was still gas burning a few years ago!

A few weeks ago someone informed that he had discovered that the lanterns in the "Martinikerkhof" were gas burning. I couldn't believe that so I went there to see for myself and indeed they were. It was then that I discovered that the gas light in the station was electrified.

Now I have to wait till winter to see them burning...
