Inspired by mattywashboy's recounting of how he "steam-mops" his floor weekly, I picked up a Shark "Steam Blaster" steam machine the other day at Target.

Does anyone have any advice before I open this latest toy up?

I have one of those Eureka steam guns but got frustrated at having to constantly refill it right in the middle of things...

This was definitely an impulse purchase.

We had hand held steam cleaner once before.
It was great for cleaning windows and counter tops, but terrible at removing grease spots and cooked on food on the stove top. We usually ended up using the steamer and then going back over it with a glass cleaner. We finally found that it was too time consuming to set up and fill with water and that a roll of paper towels and Windex would work just as well if not better.

I have used a steam cleaner for about 1 yr now and LOVE it. I use it to clean my tile floors, the fiberglass bathtub surround, and the shower doors(takes the soap scum off no problem).

And the best part about steam cleaning is absolutely NO chemicals!

I don't know what brand

it is, but my backdoor neighbour (as opposed to the upstairs neighbour, who has a very insecure, yappy puppy) has a BIG steamer, looks like a canister vac, and she has brought it over a few times.

It's nice. Very nice, and it's easy to use.

I had the Shark canister vac style steamer and it worked quite well. I gave it to my friend when me moved though. I'd buy another if I can ever find one as inexpensive as I paid for that one at a liquidation store.

The Shark hand steamer looks a lot like my old Eureka....

I've actually never had anything by Shark before.
