*Sears, Roebuck, & Co"
"Sears, Roebuck & Co" is the wholly owned subsidary of Sears Holding Company, formed when K-Mart purchased Sears.
Sears dropped "Roebuck" from the the trade name of it's stores and such in the 1970's but the corporate name remained offically "Sears, Roebuck, and Co.
Mr. Roebuck left the company in the late 1800's partly because of ill health (stress mainly from the business), but am not sure if anything else was done to him by Sears or any of his family. Mr. Roebuck did return to the company during the Great Depression and remained a spokesman until his death, which was long after Mr. Sears had gone to his own grave.
