Help Support :

Come to Australia, beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, relaxed lifestyle, no tony blair or george bush, just john howard, who is bearable. If you do move to Australia then choose your state wisely. Eastern states are for younger hippier people with better clubs and better nightlife. Western states (where i am) is more laid back and slow moving, very relaxed with a decent nightlife and beautiful pristine suburbs and a nice almost crime free city (Perth).
I can only give my recommendations that Australia is the best place in the world to live, its kinda the unknown isle, we here loads about america, loads about england but not much about australia.
I love it here, its my home now, will always be.
Here is a pic of Perth city for you, taken from the beautiful Kings park which overlooks it and also views over the Swan River, beautiful.

Thus...

Well, you told about criminality,weapons,gun...don't imagine that here is better!
Fisrt of all is not so easy to get a gun (medical, psychical, social requirements!)then YOU CANNOT USE FOR SEFL-DEFENSE! Yes, this is a very today's discussing argument. The most peopel who has got a weapon, has it for hunting... but for self-defense you cannot use it... yes you become a murderer if you use your gun even to defense your property, and here lucky we have still the private property recognition anyway! The rule says that it's a police due. Who's up to judjge it?

Now, do you undertand when I say I'm living in an "absurd" country? If you have a gun and a stoler jump into your property you have to do the same as you didn't have it... just call the police! And several people (in their house, or in their store, shop, business place) who has shot to someone attacking their properties now are blamed of murder! Even if it was the criminal/stolre to shot first!!!

And when we end to speak about how it works in the US (that's the opposite as here I suppose)... here people get furious saying "Ah, ma mica siamo nel Far West?" (=Ah, but we're not in the Far West?)... so where's the freedom to defense at least your attacked property?

And at the end... Only God (you know I'm Christian Catholic), gave us the life and none could take it away... and I think that's why here is like that, but thanks to the same reason here there's not the death penalty.

Taking apart from GreenPeace, Amnesty, Emergency and anyone else who don't agree with the death penalty, I say... which penalty would be the "right" for a man who has killed 40 or more people? It'easy to everyone here to say "oh, it's ONLY a crazy?" Would you wait for a log time more while he/she can kill again?

It's hard for me either to accept that the it's not the God hand who take that life back... but Vatican have to admit that in the centuries there was the "Inquisition"... that how many witches had "burnt" alive?

I wouldn't spent words more about these unendurable aspects of my native country. The only best things left maybe are the "pasta", the "sun" and a very good "music"

Good Bye
Diomede

PS: I couldn't imagine that how many people would have answered me...I'm very glad of that! THANKS VERY MUCH EVERYONE :-)))

Canada uses a system of "points" to determine immigration eligibility and you may be interested in looking at the official website. While Canada is officialy bilingual on the federal level only two provinces Quebec and New Brunswick are officially bilingual on the provincial level. Which means federal government services must be provided in both languages in nationwide but provincial government services don't have to be and generally are not provided in French except for Quebec/New Brunswick. Quebec is also unique in that they now have the right to set some of their own unique immigration policies.
Right now there is a huge imbalance in immigration to Canada to the various regions. Naturally most immigrants migrate towards bigger cities like Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver.Where they think they'll find work or blend in with all the other immigrants. East coast provinces like Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia are experiencing drops in population and the federal government would like more people to immigrate there so anyone wishing to come might stand a better chance if that is where they say they say they would like to live. How they regulate it I dunno, probably by granting immigration more easily if you set up a business in one of those areas for a certain period of time.
I think Canada is the best country in the world but I'm jaded LOL It has pretty good health care, the highest standard of living in the world, you can be anything you want to be here and people could care less what/where you came from. Gay marriage is legal is another bonus LOL. Generally speaking day to day life is exactly the same as in the US, same architecture, same type schooling system, same appliances, just a different country with different values.

With all respect, I believe New Brunswick is the only bilingual province. The one official language of Quebec is French.

I love Canada. Quebec is beautiful, and Montreal is much nicer to live in then New York, much cleaner and more humane.

I miss it there.:)

Good... either Canada...why not?

Yes I've always sayd USA... but I consider even only to move in France... I should learn Spanish and German too and then I'd be ready to go around anywhere in Europe (the West Europe!) Then Poloskian and Russian wuold need to go the the East Europe...

Why not Canada? The only thing I'd miss leaving Italy it would THE BEAUTIFUL CLIMATE we have here... warm winter (well, under 0°C in the night but only a few weeks a year), then beatiful sunny and windy summer...it depends fron coast land and plane land, but OF COURSE there's no the hard winter there's in the States or in Canada...

But... I would accept this either!

Thanks... I see that you continue to be interested in this thread...I'm glade of that :-))

Diomedes; A good friend of mine and his wife back in Calgary are both originally from Italy 50 years ago. Serafinos about 70 years old now and in 50 years has never learned English properly and is very difficult to understand. I was at their house last winter on a pretty cold day and I asked his wife if she missed Italy because of the cold weather in Calgary. She said absolutely no. And that it was colder in Italy with the drafts, not so good heating in the houses, the dampness etc. and would never want to go back to Italy to live.

A good friend of mine and his wife

petek...if someone loves you and you love him/her... nowhere is warmer than where you stay together...:-))

When we were bulding our new house I wash frightend about the cold there was there... then I realize that where there's my mum my father and my sister...(and Tv on!), everywhere is good, warm, nice, for me to call it "home"! And it was so when we moved here in our new house!

Of course 50 years ago Italy was not so "advanced" as the US or Canada were... remember that Italy during the IIWW was hardly bombed, like the entire Europe! There was everything to re-built again... and something after all these years has not completely re-built yet!

...

Do you want to know how it has ended up?!?!?

Since 2005 an Italian law established that it is not compulsory again for 18y.o. boys to do the Military Service! YEAH! A year of our life become FREE!

The "Servizio Civile Nazionale Volontario" took the place of the Military Service... in other words another way to serve your Nation without weapons, although the Military Service still exists, but only for VOLUNTEERS!

So I decided to apply for this new opportunity, as you can work in the Social Service as weel as you can work in a School or in a Museum...everywhere there's a Public Service...

You maybe don't know my father is a teacher, and on Saturday afternoon is a volunteer to help a Musem stay opend for any visitors who want to see it,ah it's a Natural Science Museum.

Where do you think I ended up to become a volunteer?!?!?! IN THE SAME MUSEUM WHERE IS A VOLUNTEER MY FATHER!

Do you see there's no chance to change... It seems to me we're like India (without offending none!), where if you are "owned" from a "casta" you cannnot change it! You have to work with people of the same "casta", and if you want to get married is the same...

BTW, A friend of mine did the entry-test for the same University course I did (Industrial Design), we were three... I arrived 66/120, the other arrived 35/120, he arrived 17/120!!! Do you want to know what had he to go to study then?!?!? Medicine! (lucky he passed the Medicine courses entry-test too) WHY?!? His father is a Medical Doctor, and now that he had to decide what speciality to choose...Pshychiatry... the same of his father!!!

So it doesn't matter what have you studied, it doesn't matter what are you good at... your "path" is already written...you already know which door is opend for you and which one is closed! Many of my friends ended up like that... your father has got a firm? Yo MUST to go there after the High School...you have to "manage" the enterprise! No Unieversity for you...
You are the most "stupid" man on the earth check? No problem, your father is an attorney, and you OF COURSE will become an attorney too!

Here we say "non c'è scampo"...

Now... I'm happy for these opportunity though, the Museum take care of many other aspect too, over the strictly Science contest... we could call it a Cultural Center, there's a rich library inside this museum too! So I'm not worry about it at all, after all the wage is not high but some money will be back to me surely! It's a temporary job... only 10 months... but good! It happens to me to be hired once for ONE month only!!! And here it's beginning to be common to hire people for every day less, What a future for who has not any warranty?

I just wonder if we can go on like that longer...!!!

GOOD BYE
Diomede

PS: The 4th December I will start this new activity...we'll see :-))
