Ooh!

Thank God for little-ol'-ladies who take care of things, I say. The kitchen "renovation", wherein all harvest-gold appliances were systematically eradicated, is complete.

Thank goodness we have nothing else heavy to haul up the stairs!!

Ahhh

All the doodads--including the flip-number clock--still work perfectly. Wish I could get that last numeral to line-up (anal-retention at its finest), but I don't much care so long as it's accurate :-P

Burner controls

When was the last time your Buick had this much chrome?

Complete, no less, with the multi-selectable burner at the lower right. Small, medium, or large--you decide! (As if you ever needed more small burners.)

Only one demerit

Minus two points for not having an oven handle that accommodates our dish-towels.

(As if I care. This replaced a BOL harvest-gold GE stove where the burners weren't ever level and the oven was disgusting (okay, so that was our fault, but at least with P-7 I feel proactive about cleaning it again).

...

Did I mention the old one was harvest gold? Eccch.

One of the last excellent GE ranges. A beautiful one in coppertone was on the bay for quite a while. The glass control panel is almost a thing of the past and its markings won't wash away like painted control panels. Congratulations. Actually, if you are cooking for one, sometimes 3 6 inch elements are nicer than 2 6s and 2 8s. That element with the size selector is about the only thing I miss from my GE range that was replaced by the Amanda (you would be surprised how many people give that brand name when making an appt. for a service call).

Congratulations Nate, that is one beautiful stove. Just like the one that I left back in Danville, TOL which I bought new in 1985 Only difference my clock was in the middle of the control panel. It was a wonderful stove and baked like a dream. I can't wait to see this beauty. Terry

Nate, a beautiful range. I remember it well. When I moved here in 1986, a friend of mine form church in Houston had the exact same range they'd brought from Michigan when they moved to Houston. Many a time I regrette3d not buying it from them and replacing my chrome slide-in. I've even looked for one like this at the used stores around here, but haven't found one.

Thanks!! :-D

Michael-- Stay tuned...I get the hint :-P

Greg-- Thanks!! I'm so glad to hear it'll be a good one. I'm actually looking forward to cooking again! (*dawns gingham apron*)

Steve-- You know, that's odd. I always leave it set to 8". Go figure. :-D

Bob-- I'll keep my eyes peeled for you :-) A find like this might not be too, too uncommon around here, because there were communities that were outfitted with this level of appliances (not just BOL or contractor's grade). Another might show up...

Terry-- How fun!! I know Roger mentioned that he suspected that your stove was spot-on similar! That's too cool, and I was very relieved to hear that your clock lived happily as well :-P You'll definitely have to see it!

Tom-- You nailed it! The painted panel on the old one was about to be scoured to within an inch of its life. The glass will definitely be a welcome addition.

Thats an awesome range, Nate!

I've got a range with a similar clock. It does the last number askew thing like yours. Maybe not to the same degree though! :o) Probably usual for those clocks. Touche anyway! The thing looks fabulous!

My mom had that range in harvest gold BUT.......

ours had a LED Timer with the glass touch controls. We had that range from 1979 until the big kitchen remodel of x-mas 1999. It was a real good stove. Does yours have a rotisseree attachment? My mom's did but I only remember her using it a few times because if you did not get the meat centered just right on the spit it would strain the motor and my mom was afraid it would break. It is nice to see that some are still in use. PATRICK COFFEY
