STRANGE BRAND NAMES

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Darlings, it wasn't me who brought this thread down.. LO

Not an appliance brand name, but... <br
There was a supermarket in Astoria Queens, a Greek neighborhood, named "Scaturo's " And WHAT does scat-uro mean in Greek? Let's just say we've got #2 AND #1 bodily waste products covered! My cousin was just learning to read at the time and burst out laughing. (No, he was not 17 at the time. LOL) <br
Two seconds worth of research could have avoided a bankruptcy.

No, Steve - I just brought it down to our level

Ralf is right - it seems the only guys who drive those jeeps have their shirts open to their belly-buttons, gold chains flying in the air, hair plastered artistically to cover every bald spot, tan out of a booth and cheap, frizzy triple-process blond with big hair and bigger nails at their side
They usually are listening to a "special" sort of music, link attached..
Of course, I have tried to explain to clients a few times that calling a new plan a "scheme" in their US advertising would not work, but Germans only learn something called "Oxford" English (pinch your nose shut and pronounce it: auCKSfahhd) so usually have to wait 'till their first advertising flops..
(UK folks, "scheme" in non-UK English is considered a cheap trick.
No, not THAT sort of cheap trick. Sheesh.

I wasn't blaming anyone and actually had NO idea who done it!
I ENJOYED it. *LOL* <br
Sorry about that!
I of all people can't point a finger, for bringing a thread to our level can I? :- <br
HILARIOUS ALL VERY HILARIOUS, IMHO!

Caught a glimpse of a Smeg fridge on an episode of Coronation Street the other night, and noticed that the letters on the front had been reversed to spell "G E M S". Maybe it has something to do with the double meaning, but I'm guessing it's mostly likely because they didn't want to have brand names displayed prominently on set. Mind you, if I had a Smeg fridge, I would probably do the same <br
Don't know whether this one is just urban legend, but I had heard that Sunbeam committed a faux pas one one occasion by calling a set of electric hair curling tongs Mist-Stick. Normally that would seem like a good name, however this was in Germany, where "mist" is a term used for by-products of the rear end. Oops :o).

lol

Steve, I am guessing a blank post from you with nothing more than a period in it would bring down an entire thread <br
But if it was funny, who cares.

Some things just DON'T Translate

"one who deals in straw and carries it about for sale&quot
If I were to hold me reed, displaying it for an hour looking for money what would YOU call it? LO <br
(ducks and runs.. <br
Here is another one:
KOPANE- in Greek is a rug-beater. You know the kind. Metal loop on a wooden handle. In and of itself means little to nothing. What is IMPLIES however is that one is a useless, pointless, purposeless, ancient relic from the past. "Decorative only". You had to be there or hear it used in context.. :- <br
In Spanish there is a word used to mean @$$hole, but actually means a curly body hair of a specific type/location. Go figure.

lol

See I don't know how to spel <br
'educatation <br
It's educamatio <br
no educumatio <br
or edemucatio <br
derrsss, educaMcMatio <br
lo <br
It's like the cross-eyed Senator with the "Vision for America" <br
LOL, ok, someone spiked my prune juice.

Sorry But Time for the Delete Key

You guys, that was gross and unnecessary. This is the IMPERIAL forum and I'm particularly protective of the IMPERIAL forum. While I don't catch everything, this post has generated a few upset emails from other members, so I decided I better read it and I 100% agree with those emails.

Please treat the Imperial forum with respect, or else.

One of the interesting things I've got in my home is a TOASTMASTER electric fan!

Also, can anybone explain the significance of a compression-ignition engine to expensive jeans (Diesel?)

I always thought Ford should have called the F-truck the "Indian River", as that was the name of the area it was manufactured in down in Norfolk.

The Chevrolet Impala nameplate is very fitting. An Impala is a deer that runs really fast. Chevrolet has typically marketed the Impala as a fast family car, especially during the sixties, when one could get them equipped with 327 V8's.

DANG !!!!

I always miss the good stuff.....goes off to pout. <p> Maybe Robert you could send an email out warning of impending DELETION ! LOL

I think...

Robert should make a "pay per post" adult members section. Where we can post ANYTHING we want. (snicker, snicker, snicker).

I'm gitty with excitement ! (either that or my pace maker is short circuiting from interference from my cel phone). AHHH!!
