STRANGE Crown stove!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

There were a couple of these in some fancy Coops in NYC in the sixties. Crown was a very popular gas range in NYC apartments but they were usually the 40" models that replaced some grand old Caloric or Roper stove. This was a stove that would appear in kitchens that were built by designers who worked for St. Charles or Mutschler or some other high-end kitchen company.

Personally, I think it's fabulous.

How Very Interesting

Can see the logic of design however.

In kitchens with tight quarters a range top with separate oven is common, in this case the latter is situated close to the former instead of built into a wall several feet away.

That's a really cool range. Chicago is definitely Crown Territory (or was anyways). It would be great for somebody with back problems but can't run gas and electric all over a kitchen.

I saw one of these once in a tri-level home in the mid 70's in Arlington Heights. A friend of mine's parents had a similar set up. Their home was a tri level that was much more upscale then the usual ones.
