V-Zug

The v-Zug is a high level washing machine brand . They have few models as compared to other brands but their machines claim to be very reliable (and really high priced too). Too bad V-Zug appliances are only sold in Switzerland. Their entry level of machines are easily recognized as rebadged Bauknecht (Whirlpool) ones. If Miele starts making plastic tub machines then I'll definitely switch to one of these Vzug! Their site is www.Vzug.ch Another Swiss brand maker of high end washing machines is Schulthess (www.Schulthess.ch).

A plastic tub in a real MIELE. Never!! Miele is not dumbing down all their washers!!. They just use some high quality fiberglass tub in the american sized washers to get the price a bit down. If you know how high the price of steel is today...

They must export somewhere. Switzerland's population is only 7.5million. There's no way it could keep a company that size going purely on their domestic market.

i think you are right in saying they must export - their web site has the option to be viewed in Dutch/French/Spanish/English & Italian so I am guessing they must have a market in these countries. The washer has ten languages built into it - why would they do that just for use in one country?!
i think they look fantastic.....
i also like the Schulthess machines....

I like how I can have the door either hinged left or right, mine would have to have its door to open like the mieles.

These machines are supposed to be better than Miele, but then the basic V-Zug costs equivalent to £1100 I believe! They do cheaper models, but they are just rebadged Bauknechts.

They are very cool machines though and wouldn't look out of place in my dream laundry room :-D.

Their site is in all the languages spoken in Swiss but V-Zug machines are sold only in Switzerland where they appear to be very popular. I'm trying to get one through a similar ebay site but only made for Swiss. Askomiele I do hope you're right about the fact that european Miele will remain strong and reliable as ever (which means no use of fiberglass or other synthetic compounds to make the outer tubs): In my opinion they are already compromising a bit too much starting buiding "fashion" machines with plastic doors (even if they claim they are made by a particular compound...) but with cases not entirely enamelled as they used to do not too much time ago on every machine they sold.
Anyway I do hope the inside will remain steel and iron as ever! Steel costs much but Miele machines are not known for being cheap! In my opinion they have two choices, starting to make average machines with more affordable prices or remain on the podium as a premium but expensive brand.
