Hi,

Upon searching ebay for old Hottie's etc I've cam across this rather unknown (to me) dial. Fits WM26 and WM35 which I have never seen as I have no brochures. Can anybody with more knowledge enlighten me?

James.

That's the dial for the final versions of the Hotpoint Ultima "spin slider" (variable spin control on the middle of the control panel) machines sold in 1996-7. This range featured the last of the classic Hotpoint brown facia + white/almond body styling before they adopted the Ariston-esque doors and dropped using ITCL wash symbols on the dial in favour of letters in 1997 or so.

The washer in my small pic is from the range just before.

Always thought that dial looked a bit fussy in style.

Someone out there does have the 1996 brochure; sadly I don't have any pics.

Indeed Alex is correct. The last of the spin-slider. My favourite Hotpoint model.

I had looked at this one in Powerhouse I think it was called shop, it was cool they were all hooked up so you could see and hear them spin. I was only young and was brave enough to turn them on but not leave them or for long or I would disapeer shortly after lol.

This is the one and only time this dial had this random pattern around it. Why? I've no idea. Kinda liked it for a change though.

agree with alex and darren.

The final Hotpoint aquarius/ultima WMxx range before the 1997 facelift. Only god knows why there's a green ring around it.

Found this piccy of an Aquarius Ultima with the strange dial on another Hotpoint thread. If you really look at the picture you will notice that the dial also has a green ring around it, possibly belongs to that one. I think the Hotpoint WD32 has that dial, also a later model of this range, with the green ringed dial too. I've never got why that was an Ultima, with no extra variable spin or temp, but its possibly due to the Energy Save button, which I think is on a lot of these spin slider Hotpoint Ultimas too.

Energy Save button

The Energy Save button is a hangover from the "Low Energy" programmes the earlier spin slider models offered. With the WM range the Aquarius wash system already offered energy savings so Hotpoint inverted the old rule of dropping wash temp by 10 degrees on all cycles by offering it as an option instead, which is what the button did. Preferable in my opinion to the "no heat" Economy Wash option that gave no guarantee of a minimum temp, and yet they still offered that too!

I can't remember if the small button above Door Release was for Rinse Hold on these models; it was for Auto Prewash on the 1995 range - can't imagine that was a really useful thing whereas some people do use Rinse Hold.

Well done for finding the pic, Ultimafan: demonstrates that great style they had! Wouldn't mind upgrading to one at all if it were possible!

Spot on ultimafan! The green ring appeared on both the washer and washerdryer. I visited the Hotpoint factory during the crossover between this range and the new styled models.

I think the washer/dryer hung onto the ultima name because of the low energy button.

Alex-That was was autoprewash from memory, I haven't got the brochure to hand at this second. I belive they made the rinse hold automatic like on our liberator styled 187** I'm having some memory block cant remember the last 2 numbers lol.

I agree the energy save button should've been in place of the economy button. I'd have preffered that.

My mums best friend had the 9545 electronic 1200 spin slider & my best friend had the 1000 model so I got to see alot of those! Always been my favourite hotpoint model. I at the time meanwhile had the 9534 1000rpm model.
