Strange Westinghouse..

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Norgeway, The ovens look nice.  The cooktop is the worst design ever, for people that cook in large pots.  The over/under oven design is bad enough with a standard cooktop, The raised rear burners would really limit  access to a tall pot on the back.  3 small and 1 large burner, is disappointing. I am Sure this Westinghouse was high dollar.  Thanks for posting.  It is definitely a stove I have never seen.

Isn't this the model that Westinghouse advertised as being easy to use and keep an eye on everything as it cooked? I guess their reasoning was that the lower level surface units were easier for the cook to look into...

Weren't there other models with the stepped design? While cool looking, I imagine that from a practicality standpoint cooking was tough on this type of range. I've seen a few of these stepped stoves and they all look really nice. Perhaps that's why. :)

Re Stepped top

The Terrace top, as WH called it, was a good idea, well sort of, the idea was the pot handles on the back units wouldnt interfere with the pots and pans on the front units, also things on the lower level were easier to see when stirring, Two of my Mothers cousins had them as well as one Aunt, they all said the same thing, for normal cooking it was great, but try to get a pressure canner centered on the big unit......that was not so good!

Terrace Top Westinghouse Ranges

You have to remember that people were nor supposed to being that much cooking in the era that this range was marked in, it was not designed for canning or large pots on the back burners, for the way I cook today [ just for the two of us ] this range would work very well.
