So we're considering replacing our dryer my dad does not seem to want to spend much on a new one (he's thinking around 400) what we currently have is a
Maytag LDE8616ACE I think the belt is just in need of replacement but you know how some people are about replacing things just because of the age of it.

So my question is should they just fix it, or replace it and if so what should replace it? I don't think they need too many features just something dependable that dries well. Thanks for your time.

If the dryer is fine except for the belt

I would consider repairing it instead of replacing, especially if you like the performance. I dont think you will find a dryer for $400 that he will be happy with.

Sears has the diagrams for this dryer with all the parts listed (see link below). PartsDirect has a great YouTube channel for fixing dryers. I watched the repair videos for my dryer and that's what made up my mind not to replace mine, but do the necessary repairs as they come along. I was amazed at how simple it was to get inside my dryer and access everything!
