Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Wow, that is a beautiful set of 1966 Model 800s. My neighbors next door had these. It seems like they are in good condition, so opefully someone will pick them up.

Have a good one,
James

alphabet washing at its finest

The two little levers are for water level, cold water options, and the small knob to the right of the timer is a speed modifier option.

Wonderful machines.  My parents bought this set in 1966 in Coppertone!  They lasted till 1978 without one repair.

That is the exact washer we had when I was growing up. I thought it was a 1968 model though (thought I saw that date code stamped on the tranny during a belt replacement) Ours had the black Super Roto Swirl agitator with the scrubber cap.

Snail armada!

LOL Ralph--did you outline that whole mess?  That dryer will live in infamy.

No, Darrel, I won't be going for these--go get 'em!  Ralph and I are going to complete the Montgomery Ward household this evening by retrieving a matched set of MW-Norge Burp-a-Lator washer with patented SockJet™ dryer.  That will go nicely with my two MW vacuums and portable dishwasher.  ;-)

Hey Todd, it looks like they're all yours if still available.  Can't beat the price.

Nate, I can't remember if the snail invasion was mentioned, or if there was even a narrative posted on the GE dryer bearing and connecting block replacement from a couple of months ago.

As the back panel was being removed, I noticed something round inside the cabinet and discovered that it was a snail shell.  We thought, well, that's strange, and moved on.  It wasn't until we had the drum out and began vacuuming everything before we found a huge Pompeii scene made out of snail shells, which made quite a clattering noise as they flew down the suction tube.

The seller of the washer and dryer implied that the set had just recently been moved out to her covered patio, but clearly they had been sitting out there for quite some time.  We all were puzzled about why the snails would opt for the dryer rather than the washer.

Will call later today...stuck in meetings at work all day. I want 'em but it's a four-hour drive for me so I can't get there until Saturday. I did this once before long-distance by Fed Ex-ing the $ ahead of time then went to pick them up later. I'll keep everyone posted!
