Summer car show photos

That 61 Cutlass is one of the first---if not THE first year of that model---am I correct? I seem to remember them being of the F-85 class with an up-grade to Cutlass status. Didn't they also usher in a lightweight aluminum engine with those?

Greg: Boy Magnet... LOL!! You are correct on that! Vintage cars are sure something that most guys do like. Have made a few friends from having vintage cars, but that is really not the reason I own them. Just a nice "added feature" LOL!!

Jason: You will be proud to know that there was a VW hippie van at the show!

Steve: Tim is married and Str8, but that does not keep me from teasing the hell out of him! And he just loves it!! When he restored the 61 Olds, the rest of the guys in the body shop refered to the car as "Tim's boyfriends car" because he spent so much time with it,and did such a flawless job. He is really a great guy and a great friend. Very tolerant and Liberal. Wish we had more like him in Indiana. In fact... all over the whole world.

Kenny: This show is held at the Allen County Fair Grounds. It is called the Muddy River Run, because of the parade. Are you attending the ACD festival on Labour Day weekend?

Steve: You are correct. 1961 was the first year for the Cutlass. It was a trim option for the F-85 for a few years. The engine was a 215 CID V/8

Rick...loved all of the photos of your show. There is nothing like a casual car show just hanging out with all of the gear heads. I was at a regional show today with my car. It was a bit more formal but the people there were great. I had such a good time, but it went too fast. I was so excited to see your pictures that I thought I would post a few of mine. My car club is the Oldsmobile Club and we are the northest ohio chapter. We had 177 Oldsmobiles show up for the show today and some others that were just for sale. So when I ran across the pics of your "88" and the little Cutlass, I was reminded of my great day at the Olds show today.

Here is my 1971 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan. I just got her back from a carb rebuild and she is running fine as wine.

OMG! My folks had that exact car. I twisted their arm to buy an Olds 98 Luxury Sedan. Is yours brown? It looks like it. There's was brown with brown interior. What a great blast from the past. I must visit you and see it.

Fred...yes it is brown with a light brown/beige interior. I think the body is more of a dark bronze...I forget Oldsmobile's name for it. It was the top line Olds for '71 except for the Toro and it was the most popular model. Mine is complete with functioning rear seat clock just in case you could not see the one on the dash. This was a one family car and the gentleman that bought it new worked for Olds in Lansing and ordered it just the way he wanted it. I got it from his son in FL. It is a great car and rides like a living room sofa! I would love for you to visit...you could take the old gal out for a spin if you want!!!!

The '61 Olds Super 88 is one of my favorites. It was their first year with the Roto-Hydramatic transmission.

Hippie van

It's ACTUALLY called the Type 2 or Microbus. It's only a hippie van if hippies are driving in it. Otherwise, it's a neat vehicle.

Love the 71 Oldsmobile Tom! Very clean machine. They really changed the styling in ten years didn't they?
I used to belong to the Oldsmobile Club of America, but left in the early 1980's.

Hi Jason, wish I had taken a photo of the VW van for you.If it is back at this show next year I will. This VW microbus was "hippied" out with flowers on the wheel covers and had the typical funky 1960's style hippie paint job on it. I remember seeing VW vans decorated as this one was, in the late 1960's.

Rick, looks like a great show!

I took the Avanti out to a car show, a small one out here in Ontario, and got "Best Stock" car! Well, it was a small show, probably 1/2 the people got something, but it was still neat.
