One normally does not open anything new until completing what is already open. But let's face it; one has so many things on the "active" shelf in one's stash that day may never come! *LOL*

Thought it was about time to switch things up with the arrival of summer weather. Something lighter in scent that puts one in mind of fresh air and sunshine.

What else is there but *Lemon*!

Nabbed a job lot of lessive poudre Sunlight "Citron Frais" a year ago, and it went straight into stash. Ever since each time open that cupboard the stuff is haunting me, giving out a tantalizing whiff. So broke down and opened the shrink wrapped case lot.

Smell in box is rather nice, will give it a go later this week in the Miele.

I personally don't care for lemon scented stuff, I guess I get it from my mother. I really like Island Fresh Gain, especially when used with Clorox...just smells so fresh like clothes dried outside. Recently bought a new box of Tide with Febreze Botanical Rain. It smells nice too, and the fragrance lasts. I bought a couple of boxes of Bold at BigLots and they smell nice too. I washed whites in some last week on a 190F cycle and I could smell the scent throughout the house while the Miele was washing.
 
I love lemon scents myself. I got some of the Canadian Sunlight at Big Lots once about 10 years ago (as I recall it was made in USA, or seemed to be) but haven’t seen it since.

I opened a box of circa 1968 Drive yesterday. It seemed to have no scent left at first, but after putting the clothes in the dryer and going outside to clean up the yard after a recent storm, I noticed a pleasant old-fashioned detergent scent lingering in the air around the dryer vent. Lever Brothers did a good job on this one.

How does the Henkel Sunlight powder compare to the likes of Henkel Persil powder/pearls? Is Sunlight a lower tier detergent?
 
I'm currently sticking with 3 to 4 detergents as my daily drivers.

Had read a thread in a LBD/Alzheimer's Support Group that highly recommended using Dreft Baby Detergent for patients suffering with the disease, as does my elderly Dad. They mentioned that the smell had a calming effect / sleep inducing quality. I raised my eyebrows about it but thought I would try it anyway. Was so surprised how expensive Dreft was, had no idea, but I bought some and the first time I cracked open the bottle I gagged....couldn't stand the smell....thought I was going to lose my cookies!! Nearly took a clothespin to my nose when I washed my Dad's clothing, and especially his bedding sheets in it and hung them out to dry. Moderate sudsing, no 2nd rinse needed. Well, it works!!!!!! My Dad is sleeping better now, and is no longer "wondering" the house at night. It's effects are amazing. Who knew?!?!? But I still can't stand the smell of it, always rush out of the laundry room after I pour it into the machine....and shut the door. LOL.

Tide W/Bleach powder for anything that needs bleach, mostly any towels and wash cloths. I do like the smell and it cleans really well. Trying to avoid using chlorine bleach due to the septic system.

All Free & Clear or HEB's Bravo original scent (smells like bubble gum) detergent for my clothing and sheets. Bravo is formulated for Texas hard water, cleans excellent, moderate sudsing.

On a side note, I liked Fab powder pretty good, it cleaned well for the price as long as very hot water was used. As a child, I remembered it was lemon freshened borex. My grandmother swore by it. Found that it faded fabrics though over repeated uses.

That's the problem with the modern economy; the brands keep getting shifted about, from pillar to post.
 
I've been using A&H for years

The powder stuff is fair at best, I stick to the liquid with Oxiclean and it does a decent job removing odors. I also dose the load with 1/2 cup lemon ammonia for additional cleaning power.

Cannot recall the scents I think something like Meadow or Ocean Breeze, never really paid much attention except to make sure it had oxiclean

 

I've used the liquid Oxydol from dollah tree.  Basically colored, scented water.

FOCA is suds city and didn't really clean all that well in my somewhat hard water

Tide cleans best but costs the most and often my skin breaks out when using it.  My parents had the same thing.

Sears was ok but I needed 2 scoops to get decent results. But it was very low sudsing.

Tandil from Aldi I swear is Tide and like Tide it cleans nice but gives me a rash.

I miss Rinso on washday, Rinso white Rinso bright makes clean laundry a wonderful delight. Et cetera.

Never used Bold3 but mom used the GIANT boxes of the stuff in the 70's

In college I used Freshstart however I have not seen it in years.

Surf used to be good, haven't used it in years.
