I picked up a box of the non-phosphate version just to try it. Has anyone in the group used this before, and if so, is it worth the $1 I spent?

Hooray for dollar-store dishwasher detergent! Sunsations did well in the '60's spin-tube, and it's doing equally as well in the '80's KA. We usually grab 4-5 at a time, and it's all we've been using for a few years now.

I figured that with a group this diverse, someone, somewhere, must have tried it at one time or another. Chuck, I agree wholeheartedly, hooray for dollar stores. Thanks for the input so far.

I've used the PHOSPHATE

version, and it worked well in my dishwasher and water, but it only comes in smallish boxes, so I went back to Cascade.

No idea of the phosphate free version, though.

I bought a phosphate free detergent from Aldi (I can't remember the brand name, but it's not a known brand and it's the only one they sell), and it worked fine....just found that it actually made suds in the LG, so had to use less of it.

I used it in a giant load that I did with the machine packed full of mostly greasy/oily dishes and pots with some stuck on stuff like oatmeal stuck to the bottom of the pot, and it did a fine job. I expected maybe greasy streaks on the glasses, but there were none. I found it did a better job on the utensils on the bottom rack.

Andrew,

If it is the same brand as what my wife bought last weekend, the brand name is "Reeva". She bought the gel version, but haven't tried it yet.

That's it! Reeva. The powder actually has a very, very pleasant scent to it, albeit a strong one. Kind of reminds me of the Cascade powder of the 1970s/1980s in some ways, but without the scent of the chlorine. Reeva comes as an enzyme detergent only. I have not tried to liquid.

Sunsations

I buy it if I'm shopping at Winco. If I'm at Kroger or Safeway, I get their own brands.....basically they (along with Costco's, Wal-Mart's, and some others) are all made by the same company....Huish. Good stuff.

Never tried Sun. Love Cascade and the Safeway Brand. I always hated Electrosol. Immediately 25% of the dishes did not come clean, as compared to about 2% that don't come clean with Cascade!
