That was a major steal!

Best toaster ever -- but it was designed with plain white bread in mind.  Still, the thing I liked best about mine (currently stored away) is that if the toast wasn't quite done enough, you could turn the control for more darkness, slightly lift one slice and allow it to lower again, and the toaster knew not to start a full cycle, instead adding just the right amount of darkness to the toast and then raising it back up.

Use it and enjoy it!

Im using

A 1954 model, best toaster ever,...What other kind of bread is there but plain white LOL!!! I grew up with Roman Meal and if I NEVER see whole grain bread again it will be too soon!!

I manage to put bagels in mine! But I cut them in two and flatten them a bit first...

When I get the thin and hard kind of bagels, I either eat them cool or I just put them in the Toast-R-Oven!

I have the same model

Bought it new from Service Merchandise in 1991. I will never part with it.

My Stepdad and my mother had one of those toasters-was fun to use!One time it went on the blink and they took it to the Sunbeam applaince repair place in Wash DC-fixed,cleaned up and good as new!The shop even toasted some bread to show they fixed it.Been looking at yard sales and swap shops-so far no Sunbeam Radiants-will keep looking!

Great find at a great price

Enjoy it in good health. Mine is packed away because the toaster oven is just more practical for the various types of bread today.

Hans, you don't like Roman Meal? Friends were in "weight twatchers" and had 2 slices with meals. I thought of you yesterday in the grocery store when I saw Duke's Mayonnaise.

I have the T-35 model of this toaster. I found it at a Goodwill Thrift Store in 2006 for $6.99 an snatched it up immediately! It had hardly been used. I had been looking for one of these for quit some time and couldn't believe my good luck. These are the best toasters ever! I would never part with it. My Grandma had one of these and it always fascinated me that the bread silently lowered itself. I love the discreet little click that it makes letting me know that the toast is about to rise up. Makes consistently good toast, slice after slice.

I can make 4 slices of toast faster with the 2 slice Sunbeam than I can with the 4 slice POS Proctor-Silex we received as a wedding gift.  Even after putting the bread back down 2-3 times it's barely tan or warm.

Sunbeam Toaster

I have just bought one of these but sadly as I am in the uk not tested until I get a step down transformer.
If I get get down on my knees and beg, would I be able to get a copy of the instruction manual :)

You don't need an instruction manual....they're simplicity personified.

Best used with white bread. Set the control for about 1/3 and try. If toasting 2 slices, put in the left side first then the right. If toasting one, then just the right.

These are not 'cool' sided, so don't let the bread bag get near it and don't attempt to raise the carriage. If you need to get the bread out, reduce the browning control to hard left and it should 'click' and come up.

Remember that the browness control works on radiated heat. That is, the browner the toast gets, the more heat is radiated back. Frozen bread is a challenge....reduce the browning control from where you find it works to about 1/3 lower if toasting from frozen.

The attached should help too.

My 'new in 99' T200 just decided not to work properly so have dragged one out that's from about 1975. Works a treat, but isn't great on frozen bread.....
