I love the old vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster Model 12. It is a 12 speeds mixer, and some of the speeds do not work. It goes up to speed 5 and that it.. What I need for my mixer? Thank you..

It sounds like the governor on the motor may be shot and depending on how handy you are you could find another Model 12 that is working and exchange the innards. Model 12's are very common, $5 to $10 bucks in most thrift stores. You could also try oiling the mixer. There are 4 spots that need oiling, I use sewing machine oil. The first spot to oil is on top of the machine at the back right in front of the mixer dial, one drop only. The second hole is right under the handle on the top, two drops. Slide the handle over and you'll see another little hole, put another two drops in there. Lastly, put a drop of oil into the power take off connection on top of the machine. Hope that helps.

I try oiling the mixer in 4 holes, I do have the owner manuel.. Where is exactly the gover. is located at? I did took off the speed dial, I did clean it out there is two long things on the back of the mixer, one is smaller than the other one. What is that?

Also, oil it while it is running. The first time be generous with the oil and be sure to include the juicer port on top of the mixer to the right of the handle. I've been told by other mixer collectors that often you can increase the range of speed with a good oiling. You should oil it once a month. There's a pdf of the original oiling instructions at the link below courtesy of Dave's Appliance Repair.
Also, you can open the fron of the mixer (there is a screw behind the gold logo--you can pop the logo off with a thin, flexible blade) and repack the gears with high temperature bearing grease. You can get grease at an auto parts store.

My Mixmaster only has 1 speed now!
This past Friday I did oil the mixmaster again, Now the motor only has 1 speed now.
I just bought another replaced Model 12 in it place. I just got my new model 12 today. This mixmaster does have all 12 speeds! Went I got new sunbeam mixmaster today I did oil it.
The other one mixmaster is about died!
