Not sure I should start a new topic but I was wondering about the plastic Sunbeam Mixmasters. I heard they use the same motor as the earlier ones. And I was wondering as far as the attachments, it seems the first ones still had the attachment port and were metal on the bottom of the mixer head. The later ones were all plastic housing. When did they do away with the attachment port? It seems like the later ones had an eject button in place of the attachment port. I can vaguely remember some of the white and chrome all plastic ones being at Walmart at some point in the 90s.

I'm thinking I might get one of these eventually, I'd like a white or avocado one. They seem to pop up on eBay often.

They are very 'retro' looking

If we're talking about the same mixers.

Several youtube videos are out there comparing current mixers to each other, both up and down the price scale.

You might take a look at them and see what the results were.

Personally, I'm still recovering from the disaster of the KitchenAid 3.5quart. My suspicion is that there are no new mixers by anyone which are anything but trash inside.

Not the new ones

I'm referring to the ones from the 70s-90s, I think the MMA and MMB series. The new ones look pretty good, but I wouldn't buy one, they don't have very good motors in them. I would rather have a vintage one.

If you are a really serious mixer fan--go to a commercial supplier that sells Hobart bench mixers-these have induction motors coupled to a dual speed transmission.Like the consumer KA mixers the commercial Hobarts can accept attachments-but the attachments are expensive.Folks who have these Hobarts swear by them rather than at them. They do cost serious money--$2000 on up-often used ones are available at the commercial suppliers.

According to this, the 60th Anniversary Model was introduced in 1990 and the attachment port was replaced with a beater ejector.

But it doesn't note when the black handle and switch knob and chrome center cap on the MMA changed to brown handle and switch knob with a woodgrain front cap.
