This is what my $4.00 bought today at one estate sale.

Steam iron cleaner and a sprinkling bottle for my laundry needs.

Realistic Weatheradio, that works, for the latest in weather info.

Spare cord for one of my roasters.

Ekco stainless vanadium utensils, and a Corning Cookmates kettle
for the kitchen.

It was a good day!

We had that Ecko set growing up--had a rack to hang the pieces on too.  I had forgotten about it too.  Have no idea what happened to it.

Oh No You DIN'T!

You need to get on eBay, etc., and have some fun learning what that teakettle fetches in good condition.

Likewise the Ekco Flint stoveside tools. Those are the ones I like best - the Bakelite-handled version. They're a bit rarer than the ones with wood handles, because Bakelite can crack or break when dropped.

Well done, is all I can say.

Cook-Mate Tea Kettle

Those tea kettles are great on regular electric and also work great on new Electric Smooth Top ranges as lone as you use the small elements, for gas not so good, and induction not at all, LOL. And Sandy is correct, I have seen those go for as much as $50.

I have what appears to be the same Ekco flipper in regular use here.  I don't recall my mom every having a full set, so I have no idea where it came from.  It's my go-to device when I'm not working with non-stick cookware.

Around here, even late on a Sunday I'd have done well if $4 got me the steam iron cleaner, the sprinkler bottle and the roaster cord.

Great Finds!

Every once in a while the POD is a page from a saving stamp catalog and I believe one of those EKCO sets on the carousel is pictured on the counter.

If you want to serve really cold drinks that will stay cold, put the Corning piece in the freezer for a couple of hours before you fill it with the refrigerated drinks. You won't have to use ice to dilute it and the Corning will hold the cold just like it does the heat. Frozen Corning saucepans or Dutch Ovens are great for cold salads for the same reason. Keep a towel around them to insulate and soak up condensation. If you want real cold, freeze water in the lower bowl of the assembled double boiler and you will have an ice cold 2 qt. serving bowl.
