Mother's Little Helper:

On a lighter note, I thought that Mother looked a bit tired in that photo above. Television lighting and camerawork are so hard on us beauties! And then there's that little ding in her chin, probably from the famous, but never-seen episode where Endora catches Uncle Arthur in drag, and he catches her in the chin with one of his 16EEEE spiked heels.

At any rate, Mother's all better now, at least photographically. The rest is up to all of us.

Po li'l me

Sandy, thank you for stepping up to the plate for me. Pete, thank you also for defending me. It's not an excuse for me to have been naive enough to fall for people's vicious online garbage, when that series of incidents happened I had only been online myself for less than a year. It's difficult today to deal with all the anonymous hatred from certain areas. I rejoined this group I believe around February 17 of this year. The first time was around May of 2007 as 63getelevision, and when my two pals recognized my new AW.org id, they called me by name, and I do believe I acknowleged them and don't recall having denied it. It's regrettable that I'm still considered unwelcome by certain individuals, but then again, they may well be leery of all of the people who are members and seldom contribute. Now I have to apologize to Robert for having touched off yet more trash. I believe Robert does know who 112561 is, I gave my full name and whatever other information is required, including the email address from Yahoo which I used the first time I registered. I am now well aware, never to bring up any controversy or comment on same. No strange political artwork, and not carry on an ongoing battle, because I'm not always right. Like Sandy, I'm here for the fun, not the too frequent tirades.

Steve:

" And I am entitled to my opinion as well as you are yours."

I have no opinion of that kind, because I am not qualified by training to apply a mental-health diagnosis of that sort to anyone.

Contribute to what? There's 10% worthwhile appliance chat here, 90% junk.

Sandy,

I'm not making a diagnosis, but these are some of the admittedly carefully chosen traits of the sociopath:

-They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible.

-Grandiose Sense of Self

-Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

-Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature, Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

-Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

-Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them

-Paranoid

As far as psychopathy:

PRIMARY PSYCHOPATHS do not respond to punishment, apprehension, stress, or disapproval.

CHARISMATIC PSYCHOPATHS... They are usually gifted at some talent or another, and they use it to their advantage in manipulating others.

The rest of my message disappeared.

'The psychopath is filled with greed inside, relating to the world through power, even though, as I said, on the outside he can claim to be on the side of the disenfranchised or the downtrodden. I knew one who liked to repeat phrases such as "they have to stop keeping my brothers down" but he didn't mean a word of it. He was actually a racist. The psychopath can also often identify himself as a revolutionary.'

I re-iterate that I am not making a diagnosis, just an observation, and that any one or more of those traits could point to a number of different conditions.

Mother is not pleased

Why doesn't mother put her foot down and ban the sole troublemaker (should have been carried out a LONG time ago, IMO). Seems like others here got a permanent ban for much less....

Oh well....Flame On!!!

Rich:

Most of those traits also apply to other, far less severe psychiatric conditions, treatable ones that fall more into the category of "personality disorders." Sociopathy and psychopathy are generally considered to be far less treatable, with generally poor outcomes.

What I'm trying to say here is that while we all have a lot of information our parents and grandparents didn't necessarily have, it's still layman's knowledge, and we may not always use terms in the way that a professional would, which may cause unnecessary distress to someone else. Whatever is going on with Keven, he's still a human being, and I think everyone here is big enough and smart enough and compassionate enough to voice their displeasure with his actions, without resort to words that may be inaccurate, and will almost certainly cause hurt.

IMHO,

Isn't that what Super's all about? Almost anything and everything? ALMOST!!! The last check box on the subject list is, "Other Non-Appliance Related Topic." There's Imperial and Deluxe for hardcore appliance.

Sandy,

I need to make it clear that it was me, Chuck, that posted that, and not Rich (who does actually deal with this in his chosen profession).

Point well-taken and understood.

Steve:

If simply trying to be reasonable and seeing both sides of this situation is living "at the foot of the cross," you may address all my mail to Calvary.

And with that, dear hearts and gentle people, I bow out of this thread.

Mother is not pleased... I'll BET she isn't! BUT she

Unfortuately, it appears that Robert (along with EVERYTHING ELSE he does here for our benefit) should deal out some serious consequences for some people around here. Then, after that has been done, stomp a mud hole in this thread which has degraded to nothing more than children's playground trash talk complete with name calling, vicious attacks, comments on sexuality and other hostility provoking things. Why don't we add attacks on parentage as well? Seems like the next, logical step.

Time to ring the bell and stop recess... Really, is this the ideal place for this crap? It would be SO refreshing to see actual, rational discussions with actual, rational adults instead of this fantastic display of angry, hurtful, "panties in a wad" garbage...

Do the rest of us a favor... Take your crap to Email where it belongs and save the rest of us from having to read it.

I've been absent for a few days, and just wanted to let the AW crowd know it isn't because I was upset over the flare-up at the Creeps You Out Thread.

A close friend is 26 weeks pregnant and in the hospital with severe preeclampsia, something I'd never heard of, before. She is diabetic on top of it, and it looks like they're going to have to induce labor to save her life. They've given her steroids for a couple of days in hopes of bulking up the baby's lungs. The baby will only be about two pounds.

I've been taking care of their 4-year old (her husband is with her at the hospital about 100 miles from here), and it has been a sobering experience. The poor little guy wakes up several times at night crying for his mom and dad, and he doesn't understand why mom can't come home.

To make matters worse, he came into my room night before last and saw me with my CPAP mask on, with the hose going to the machine and completely freaked out. So now he thinks he has to check on me at night.

Anyway.....when you have a little tyke hanging on to you, bawling his little heart out at 3:00 a.m., and you know your friend's life and the life of her baby are truly at stake, and that her husband is scared of the possibility of losing both of them, the occasional flare-up here at AW is put into perspective very quickly.

I'll say this: Regardless of the differences between us, I, for one, am glad to have such a great site to visit daily. Although I know none of you personally, I love reading (and contributing to) our discussions, both on-and-off the topic of appliances. If AW dropped off the web, I would miss it more than I care to admit, even though I own not even one vintage appliance.

I'm glad we're here.

When it comes down to it,

What has been suggested several times is the best solution. Ignore Panthera, and he will go away.
