Remember her from the early sixties movie "Rome Adventure" with co-star Troy Donahue (who she later married). And Hitchcock's "The Birds".
In later years t.v.'s The Bob Newhart Show.

She had suffered from lung cancer, and passed while being treated in Los Angeles.

I loved everything Pleshette did; She had such attitude. She did a great job as Karen Walker's mother on Will & Grace. Had read about her lung cancer, and how her agent was trying to downplay it--said she was doing fine and looking for work. The poor thing... My mom died of lung cancer (a non-smoker, even!), so I've witnessed its insidious course first-hand.

ANYWAY, my Italian mother loved Rome Adventure and she played the soundtrack album every Saturday morning while she cleaned house. Being old enough, now, to appreciate my past, I've been searching E-bay for the albums my mom played when my sister and I were growing up. The Rome Adventure soundtrack arrived only a couple of days ago. What a blast from the past!

Here's one for you, Suzanne.

She was one of my favorite actresses for a long time. Another one of her husbands was james Farentino (drool, moan). Lterr was revealed he abused her. Married Troy, hmm. I think her last husband (Tom Poston?) she found very happy relationship. RIP sweet woman. "Oh Baahhhhb". I loved that when she'd say that on the Bob Newhart Show.

"Oh Baahhhhb"

I think my favorite TV moment, funniest and most surprising, was in the last episode of the Newhart show (the one with Larry, Darryl, and Darryl) where he wakes up in bed with Pleshette and the whole Vermont thing was a dream.

Just read her entry at Wikipedia. I'd forgotten she stepped in after John Ritter died on the sitcom "8 Simple Rules". Her second husband, a Texas oilman, also died of lung cancer, in 2000.

Tom Poston died in the spring of 2007. I'm always amazed at how little time can sometimes pass between the deaths of spouses.

Recently, an elderly couple in my little burg passed within less than two weeks of each other; first the wife, then the husband, who was in perfect health at his wife's funeral.

Ann B. Davis? I think she is still alive...

Washendry:

I looked all over the 'net and I don't see that Ann B. Davis passed away as well. Where did you see this?

Ann B. Davis~

aka.. Alice on "The Brady Bunch" is still very much alive and living in San Antonio, TX.
Allan Melvin, Sam,"The Butcher" on "The Brady Bunch" died this past Thursday of cancer.

Very sad about Suzanne Pleshette. I always enjoyed her work. I don't believe her cause of death was cancer. It has been reported in the mainstream media that she died of respiratory failure.

I believe that Sam the butcher was also Archie's friend from the loading dock on "All in the Family"

As a Dachshund owner, I am partial to Suzanne Pleschette in "The Ugly Dachshund" (which is actually a pretty dumb movie, but kids like it, and wouldn't every movie be better with a few Dachshunds in it?)

Dan, as usual, I couldn't agree with you more! My favorite scene is where the puppies are running around with the yarn and one plays the piano with her butt!
But dachshunds or no, Suzanne was fabboo in that movie. Love the negligee and little kitten-heel mules she wears at the beginning. And that little black cocktail number she wears for her husband's birthday. She only sang a couple of bars of "Happy Birthday", but boy was it sexy!

not necessarily~

Suzanne was declared cancer-free in 2006. Respiratory failure is often the final stage of chronic lung disease. Many things can cause respiratory failure. I am certain the damage done to her lungs due to years of smoking played a big part in her death.
Still sad regardless.
