She was almost mine! ALMOST MINE!! $395 was the most I was gonna pay, and that plus shipping was going to have me eating peanut butter and crackers for a month or so. But, I pushed it past $400, and when I was outbid after that, I had to throw the towel in, call it a day, and lick my wounds in solitude.

Ah well - I didnt really want that old thang anyways. She was only the machine I have been obsessing about for over 20 years, the one that drew me to this site searching for at least a photo of it. And that particular beauty was the one I had been trying to get gregm to sell me for as long as he's had it.

And so it goes: You win some; you lose some. Point blank, I lost the dream. Got some great photos, though, and maybe there is another one somewhere out there.

Don't know if anything I write here will make you feel any better BUT you're right in saying that..."there will be another one out there somewhere."

I also have had my "moments" in dealing with the 58 LK that is presently on ebay. That 58 has been my dream machine for as long as I can remember and as you say I haven't even found a picture of one anywhere until the current ebay listing. That particular model seems to be vary rare.

I tell you, during the first few days of the listing I was a wreck going thru a myriad of emotions obsessing about that set and the possibility of getting my hands on it. My dream machine-wow! I soon came to my senses and realized that possibility was completely out of my realm. The price of the set is one thing but THEN you have to think about shipping and from Niagra Falls to southern California. Impossible.

Then the thought of the neat little collection of old Kenmores I already have entered my mind. Now, I could be sitting here with no machines at all. I have machines with the same cycle modifications as the 58, I have machines that have the words "Cycla Fabric" scrolled on the consoles, I have machines that have all the same chrome adornments on them. Hey, I should thank my lucky stars to have what I have.

This is not to say that I won't ever stop looking for that illusive 58 LK. You can bet your boots I won't. It just gives me one more thing in life to keep on my list and to keep striving for.

I also cherish the memories I had with my 58 LK back years and years ago.

Hey, don't feel bad and down in the mouth about the 63. Just get recharged and keep huntin'. You and I will find our dream machines eventually.

Are you speaking of the '63 Kenny, hometechdoc? The water level control is at the bottom of the control panel. The knob is broken off so that the machine is set perpetually to high fill.

Look at 'er this way, Dick: you are a several hundreds of dollars richer for not having the machine, which was the consolation rickr gave.

Good luck chasing the dream.
