Sylvania washers??

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Here too, Leonard was related to Kelvinator. I can't tell what this washer is. Strangely, Sylvania and Leonard were distributed by Northern Electric which was a related to Western Electric and Sylvania was part of GTE.

We also had a Sylvania "GT Matic" solid state color TV when I was a kid.

The washer is a Kelvinator. It looks just like all the old Leonard machines that Otasco used to sell here in Oklahoma and the surrounding area. Leonard is one of the rebadged names Kelvinator made.

That Sylvania TV pictured, reminds me of the ones that used to be awarded as the "grand prize" on the original "BEAT THE CLOCK" back in the 1950's, except those were console models.

Bruce, if it's like à Kelvinator, then I need to search for that! My grandpa worked for Northern Electric and he was a great fan of Leonard appliances and later Kelvinator. Even if the later ones he bought were WFI junk!

I have to say that when he retired, he bought Inglis laundry and dishwasher and also an Inglis range, He still had an old Leonard fridge and a newer Kelvinator fridge and chest freezer.

It would be great if you could find one. They are scarce as hen's teeth now, even ones with the Kelvinator name on them. Makes me sick to think about how many there used to be around back in the day...they were everywhere!!!
