Whatever has happened to Tab Cola? I used to see it in Safeway, but they don't carry it anymore. Is it extinct?

Fareway Store in Iowa

A few weeks back, I spotted 12 packs of TAB, but did not buy any. Maybe I'll try some hnext time. By the way, did pick up a 12 pack of Fresca. Not bad!--Laundry Shark

Oh Marvin, taste my TAB, I think it's a coke!

Here is a bit of unsolicted advice:

"DIET" products

Beware of artificial (chemical) sweeteners. It is my understanding that most break down into vile and dangerous poisons.

I'm just sayin'......... :-)

Still around

here in the Garden State, as is Fresca in original and other flavors. I particularly enjoy the Peach Fresca with a shot of gin!

In "Desperately Seeking Susan":

Waitress to R. Arquette: "Who gets the rum & Tab?"

I regularly see Tab at the local Nob Hill grocery chain, which is owned by parent company Raleys. I like to have it around sometimes just for a novelty when we're throwing a party, and it does have a unique taste unlike other diet drinks. To my knowledge, it was the first diet soda to be widely marketed, back in the days when (probably toxic) products like Sucaryl artificial sweetening liquid in that triangular shaped bottle with the Concorde top were just showing up also.

LOL! I had a can of Tab when I was in the US and it was awful! It tastes like a really cheap supermarket brand diet cola. I only bought it for the novelty value as we used to have Tab in the UK but it was the clear version back in the mid/late 80s, (I think we had the normal stuff too) I remember it as a kid, again it was a novelty as it was clear cola, but it disappeared completely within a few years of Diet Coke appearing.

Fresca i know for sure was the subject of cyclomates in the late 60's, i imagine a low profile for about 35 years fixed the problem. The next public enemy was Hexacholorophene in hand soaps if i remember correctly. alr2903

Still have it in California

I get a can everyone once in a while. Whenever I need a trip down memory lane, or feel like my tastebuds need a good washing! When the diet coke starts to taste like brown fizzy water, a TAB will burn a layer of skin of the ol' buds and make a diet coke taste fresh and new again!

Although, ever since I worked in OB/GYN and realized TAB stood for Therapeutic Abortion (TAB), it's takin' a bit of fun outta drinking it! LOL I know this is strange, but anyone in health care will understand, I remember the first time I saw that written down on a womans chart note I remember thinking "what the hell does soda have to do with anything?" lol.. oh to be young and dumb again.

Speaking of Saccharin, I remember when my grandfather using the liquid version in the bottle for his coffee. Didn't the bottle have a little pointy white plastic tip?

Saccharin

Laurent, see the mention of Sucaryl in my post above. I think that's what you are remembering.

I remember saccharin pills. I liked watching them fizz in my dad's coffee. He eventually started drinking it black and saccharin was history in our house.
