Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Wonderful set there. Love the way you describe the dispenser situations (s). I could not/can not figure out why folks are clueless about keep them rinsed out and clean.

Nate, those are just beautiful. I love the glam shot of their consoles shinning in all their glory. Can't wait to see these.

Now Bob.....

Ok Bob...I'm going to have to force you to watch me pre-rinse in Tucson for that one! LOL

I'm sure there will be plenty of ladies there.

GREAT CATCH! MAZEL TOV.

It's worth the trip just to see you guys; the holy trinity, but aside from that...

It's also worth the trip just to see these and Ross' Thor. I'm sure Roger will have awesome goodies, as usual, too.

May I request a favor?

A recreation of Bob-load Bob Appnut holding his hand under the portable Kitchen Aid DW dishcarge hose while discharging waste water, and watching him show Retromom Venus food chunks blow out? *LOL*

JEEZ I miss all of you!

Nate, wow, what a beautiful set! If those aren't Ladies they come pretty damn close. Jason's going to just scream, LOL.

I also notice an unfamiliar location where they are hooked up as well...are you in a new place with a full-sized laundry room now? That's awesome!

What year is this pair? Wonderfule set!

How do you have your Vari-Felx set? I found that if you have the fins even with the skirt, you get the best wash action (is that one step down from all the way out?). If you extend them all the way out, it is REALLY ROUGH and all the way in is REALLY GENTLE.

It's amazing the difference each inch makes!

Those look to be mid 70's issue machines. My mom's wasn't as fancy and didn't have the LK-type buttons but it did have the same bleach and softener dispensers and you're right, they tended to gum up even with pre-diluted softener. I had that dispenser assembly apart a few times. Her machine had a "Soak and Wash" setting that employed the detergent dispenser. The dispenser was placed over a raised base in the other corner above the tub on the same side as the bleach/softener dispensers. When the washer was set for "Soak and Wash" or was set to the maximum wash time, after the fill a solenoid would open the flap on the bottom of the detergent dispenser and the powder would fall into the water. Rarely used this and even though the machine is gone now, the dispenser stayed behind and is still knocking around the laundry area at my mom's.

LOL

Thanks, guys!!

Austin--Yes, there are new digs, with a laundry room. Only room for one set, alas! Nevertheless, I'm learning to love avocado.

These machines are from 1970, according to the 110.70 model number.

I agree with you Peter--the Vari-Flex has some deceptive settings. All the way out, and it's a butt-whoopin'; all the way in and on Delicates, and wet Kleenex couldn't roll over. But it gives you lots of interesting options--like running your delicates on Normal, with the retracted fins, so you still get good, gentle action.

I was afraid the machine was broken when I ran a blanket through on Delicates--until I realized that the Delicates button references the infamous agitate-stop-drain-fill-agitate Permanent Press cycle. How fun!

Venus--But of course you can push the buttons! :-D It's fun to push a bunch and see which options cancel automatically. For instance, the machine is absolutely loathe to give a cold rinse, and selecting almost any normal cycle kicks that button out.

Bob--Aw, you know Will would give permission for a little button-pushing ;-) Besides, we have a vertical spin-tube to test, and we don't want too much pre-rinsing to spoil the results :-D

Dick--Thank you :-) Gosh, it's satisfying to have this nice, decent set, after the Evil Kenmore™ from '61...though tearing this machine apart and redoing the innards created a serious sense of déja vù...

Toggle--Why don't we affix a nylon stocking to the outlet on the KitchenAid, and show Venus what it looks like after a no-pre-rinse load? We could chase her around with it :-D

Shriek!!!

Oh Dear! The thought of food chunks from non pre-rinsed dishes housed in nylon stockings makes me want to scream!

Green Kenmore set

Nate wow what a score !!! Beautiful set i an so jealous i have the same washer but would really like to find a dryer to match those are way cool John

I can hardly wait!!!

That's almost identical to the Lady K. at the Fleckenschteen. Why isn't it a Lady. The bar buttons are identical; maybe there's no garage door for the control panel?

As soon as I saw those tell-tale Hershey Bar buttons, I knew at once.

900s--the ''value-minded'' Cadillacs

They're bleedin' close, but not quite Ladies. They also lack a couple of buttons that the Ladies have, though what those are escapes me at the moment--someone posted a pic of their control panel the other day, though, and I remember noticing them right off.

Nevertheless, lots of fun :-D. And no, no garage-door cover for the control panel; the light comes on when the timer is in an active portion of the cycle.

Venus--oh dear, wouldn't you always prefer to see what came off the dishes, so that you have the satisfaction of knowing your dishes are clean? ;-)
