Thanks, guys!!

Austin--Yes, there are new digs, with a laundry room. Only room for one set, alas! Nevertheless, I'm learning to love avocado.

These machines are from 1970, according to the 110.70 model number.

I agree with you Peter--the Vari-Flex has some deceptive settings. All the way out, and it's a butt-whoopin'; all the way in and on Delicates, and wet Kleenex couldn't roll over. But it gives you lots of interesting options--like running your delicates on Normal, with the retracted fins, so you still get good, gentle action.

I was afraid the machine was broken when I ran a blanket through on Delicates--until I realized that the Delicates button references the infamous agitate-stop-drain-fill-agitate Permanent Press cycle. How fun!

Venus--But of course you can push the buttons! :-D It's fun to push a bunch and see which options cancel automatically. For instance, the machine is absolutely loathe to give a cold rinse, and selecting almost any normal cycle kicks that button out.

Bob--Aw, you know Will would give permission for a little button-pushing ;-) Besides, we have a vertical spin-tube to test, and we don't want too much pre-rinsing to spoil the results :-D

Dick--Thank you :-) Gosh, it's satisfying to have this nice, decent set, after the Evil Kenmore™ from '61...though tearing this machine apart and redoing the innards created a serious sense of déja vù...

Toggle--Why don't we affix a nylon stocking to the outlet on the KitchenAid, and show Venus what it looks like after a no-pre-rinse load? We could chase her around with it :-D

Shriek!!!

Oh Dear! The thought of food chunks from non pre-rinsed dishes housed in nylon stockings makes me want to scream!

Green Kenmore set

Nate wow what a score !!! Beautiful set i an so jealous i have the same washer but would really like to find a dryer to match those are way cool John

I can hardly wait!!!

That's almost identical to the Lady K. at the Fleckenschteen. Why isn't it a Lady. The bar buttons are identical; maybe there's no garage door for the control panel?

As soon as I saw those tell-tale Hershey Bar buttons, I knew at once.

900s--the ''value-minded'' Cadillacs

They're bleedin' close, but not quite Ladies. They also lack a couple of buttons that the Ladies have, though what those are escapes me at the moment--someone posted a pic of their control panel the other day, though, and I remember noticing them right off.

Nevertheless, lots of fun :-D. And no, no garage-door cover for the control panel; the light comes on when the timer is in an active portion of the cycle.

Venus--oh dear, wouldn't you always prefer to see what came off the dishes, so that you have the satisfaction of knowing your dishes are clean? ;-)

Now...

...what little lid went on the detergent dispenser? And was it plastic, or metal? I'm guessing, due to its absence, that it was probably plastic.

The hunt is on :-D

Kenmore 900 Washer Cover

Nate ;I think that your detergent dispenser cover on the washer was the brushed silver just like your dryer, in later years on the 900 line that went to an all matching plastic cover that was the same color as the cabinet, if i come across one in my stach of kenmore parts i`ll let you know John
