With my schedule rearranged this week, I figured I'd bump Wednesday's release to this morning.
By the mid-60's, management was struggling to get consumers to see Whirlpool for more than just washers and dryers, and the RCA-WP venture hadn't exactly hit the way they had hoped. America was changing and consumer tastes were evolving; WP wanted to demonstrate they were changing, too. To demonstrate that commitment, they poured millions into a new ad campaign with a new firm, and changed their consumer approach. This film is just one example of that new ethos...clever and entertaining, and not overly technical. Internal marketing evolved, too, but that's for another day.
