I have seen comments about this dryer in the past. They were not good. But can someone tell me why this would not be good to get ? I myself do not care for WCI products is this one of them ? Thank you all. Also I am keeping my collection over the winter .. thanks again . I have posted my garage collection. Here’s a picture and here’s the dryer I “might” get .

WCI built Gibson dryer

If you like the looks of it get it, I wouldn’t count on using it much. These were absolutely miserable dryers. They were noisy and prone to all kinds of early failures.

But it is unusual to find one out in the wild still just depends how big you wanna make your collection.

Thanks everyone what year is this dryer is it 1967? I’m so used to powerful late 1970 sears kenmore beast dryers that get the job done also kitchen aid dyers electric are excellent!! I’ve tried Maytag electric they suck.. I’ve tried GE and Hotpoint those dryers over heat and smoke up the tub gets so hot 🥵 burn your hands NO TO those lol. Yes those are both Norge washers they work excellent!! These are the dryers I’m used to. Thank you to all of you too 😃let me know what you think.

My F&P frontload dryer (DE04) circa 1999 is a rebadged GE.  The heating elements are directly behind the large center grill at back of the drum so clothes may be exposed to a bit more radiant input heat than other designs that have it in a heater box outside the drum.  Low and medium temp settings are useful.

I used it for 5 years, a succession of family members (sister, grandmother, nephew) used it until 2021 when the belt broke.  No complaints about overheated items or smoke.  I repaired it (belt, two drum slides, center bearing sleeve), holding as a spare for whoever needs it next.

Wonder what the washer must look like...

One by o e the brands we know as bought out by White Consolodated Industries began with Gibson owned by...

Probably that occasional dryer a used appliance dealer I'd hung out acquired while dominated and even admittedly it and its washer companion was not in demand, easy to service or likely to survive as much as the inventory dominated by GE and Whirlpool (& maybe I wanted to ask if that dealer got in Frigidaire, Norge/Norge-built or Kelvinator, but Gibson was easier to coax out)...
