Have an issue with a Frigidaire FL washer, which will not consistently go into the final high speed spin. The machine is about 8 years old, and located at a vacation house, so it has seen light use. This problem started recently, and originally it appeared that it kept trying to balance the load, doing the slow tumble and then would ramp up to a medium spin, but not the full spin. It now seems that when washing smaller loads it will for the most part ramp up to the full spin.

Doing some online research, it seems that the door latch, motor (with tachometer) or control board could be at fault, but I don't want to just start throwing parts and money at the machine hoping that one will be the fix. This machine has a electro-mechanical timer and controls ( no touch pads or display).

Any troubleshooting guidance that could be offered is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Ohh, I don't know the model exactly, but if it has a motor with carbon brushes, most likely these will be worn (or there springs broke, does not happen often, but if the washer runs only temporarry over a long time, this could happen). These are most likely testable if you take the motor out (but wait till you are confirmed the washers even has carbonbrushes) and remove them. But more on this later on.
Or, maybe, the shockabsorbers are bad. These are simple to test: Push the tub with your hand downwards. Is there some afford needed or is there no or little resistance at all? If they feel weak, they might be broken. A nother test is to load the washer to its capacity (not tightly packed, but full) and see if the tub lowers more than usual when the clothes are wet/soaked. If so, they are broken either.

I'm just throwing out something random...

The thing I'm thinking is the motor control board, because if it has NO brushes, it would be that, I'm thinking. Remember, I'm just throwing something random, so keep that in mind.
