Tesco voted Britain's worst supermarket

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Quite agree....

I hate Tesco and everything they stand for with a passion. The only time I ever set foot in one is when I have to for work. Our local one is badly laid out , has virtually nobody to ask if you can't find something and bloody expensive particularly it's in store bakery. I like Morrisons , Sainsburys and Waitrose. Our nearest Waitrose has an AMAZING cake counter!! . Glad to see the average shopper is finally waking up from their brainwashed state....

Seamus, I think Tesco's success largely lies on convenience rather than value or positive shopping experience. It seems there is a Tesco store local to just about everyone. We have 2 - an absolutely enormous store about 15 minutes drive and a small Tesco Express about 10 minutes walk from my house. There are also another 3 stores within driving distance that I can think of - whereas Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Aldi and Iceland all have just 1 (or 2 in the case of Morrisons) store local to me.

The reason they're so successful, is because they're probably about 70% of people's local supermarket.

Cardiff city centre is normally dominated by Tesco express stores and one Sainsburys local store now has a "Little" Waitrose store, its essentialy like a Tesco express store except its much nicer to be in and the store is better laied out. We avoid Tesco, we mainly shop at Sainsburys, Aldi, Lidl or the Co-Op (when we used to have one!). They are building a Morrisons store in the middle of town so I cant wait to see what that store turns out like.

I think you'll like your new Morrison's store.

Living not too far from where Morrison's originates, where I live has a fair few Morrison's. They were only available in the North of England until 2004 when they bought lots of ex-Safeway stores after Safeway closed. We had a Safeway in our town, which has since been replaced by a Tesco.

They have a great selection of fruit & veg, fresh meat and bread etc.
Ours stocks lots of different detergents including Prudax which is a Swiss(?) powder which is £6 for 90 washes. I have not tried any yet but several here have and reported their findings.

Where I live there s the afore mentioned Tesco, a Sainsburys five minutes away and an ASDA and a Lidl 10 minutes away.

Most of our shopping is done at Sainsbury's or Lidl. Sainsburys have lots of good offers and the staff are rather helpful, and there is a fresh Deli and butcher which sell good food. I find that Tesco stocks a lot more groceries and processed/canned food than fruit and vegetables, and has poor selections of certain items. Lidl is great value for money as its own brands sometimes par with own brands for taste and beat brands at value.
