Texas Mini Wash-In

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Fellow appliance enthusiast Reggie (compactc9) and his family are vacationing out in Freeport for Spring Break, and planned to stop by Bellville this weekend for a mini wash-in! I had wanted to do some kind of gathering before the Tucson trip next weekend, and Mom & I recently updated the Studio so a wash-in was in order! Of course it wouldn't have been complete without Glenn (DADoES) and Carol (Maytagmom) joining us as well!!! A good time was had by all and it was great meeting Carol, Reggie & his family for the first time...glad they could make it!!!

I had saved up laundry all week and Glenn brought a couple of loads as well. Needless to say it was a lot of washing (and some vacuuming) fun, complete with good food and a TON of technical discussion!! Reggie brought along his green Hoover Junior 1348 (and darnit, I completely forgot to get a picture of that great machine...Glenn you didn't happen to snap one did you?)...those Juniors are my favorite. I can't even remember how many loads we washed down there, but we used each machine at least once! However we did focus mostly on the AMP, Dispensall, and 1-18 for the majority of the laundry!! We also tried out some British detergents, and I even braved using some of the vintage Cold Power that Greg sent on a load of darks in the Dispensall!! I'm sure Glenn, Carol, & Reggie will be commenting on that shortly...that detergent could pass for toilet-bowl cleaner!! ;-)

Unlike the last wash-in of course (;-)), Glenn & I took a lot of pictures (and I think Glenn captured some video clips of the machines going as well). Here are the ones I took...enjoy!!

Haven't had opportunity to unload my camera. Had to skedaddle to work. Should be vacuums in a couple shots.

Reggie & family -- kewl!

Carol -- kewl!

The Guinea Pig (ooops, don't recall her name) -- kewl!

This was my 'virgin run' with a mini-basket. It's quite effective, moreso than I expected. Only real drawback is lack of spray rinse but I suppose that wouldn't be a serious problem for the intended "dainty items." There were still water droplets flying out during the final spin as the timer clicked to off, so a longer spin would also be better ... but again likely not a serious problem for "dainties."

The AMP is very smooth. Maytag wringer-action with spin. :-)

Frankenmore = memories of the 1962 and 1976 Whirlpools. Yay!

Love the 1-18. Would like to see it swallow an 18-pound load measured by weight. ;-)

The Rustinghouse just kills me with that "live action" drain hose .... like something from a childhood nightmare, LOL!

Vintage liquid Cold Power .... ewwwww!!!!

YAY for TEXAS

Austin, Venus, Carol, Reggie, Glenn, all of you had a wonderful time! Thanks for the pics and the sharing. I will be in Angleton starting this Friday, then all through next week. Sorry we cannot attend the Tuscon event.

Love all those new machines since we were there.

Plan to see Carol while I am there.

Steve

It was a pleasure.....

It was great to meet Carol, Reggie, Don, Alice, Jaylynn, and Chris. As always, we enjoy our visits with Glenn!!

The weather was beautiful, the detergents fragrant, and the washer (and vacuum) action exciting! We'll keep practicing 'til we get it right!!

Steve....you'd better stop by on the way to (or from) Angleton!! You will get a kick out of that AMP action!

Venus :-)

hi austin....looks like you all had a great time and look forward to seeing you and your mom later this week for more fun.....ross

This was so much fun...

Venus, thank you and Tom so much for opening your home to us Sunday. It was a gorgeous day, wasn't it?

One of my daughter's senior friends was at the house when I got home, so he was able to help me bring the RR in the house. I had stopped by Kroger to pick her up a cheese cake for her birthday, and grabbed an entree to heat up. Works great! Thank you thank you thank you. (The RR looks HUGE in that kitchen. lol)

Steve...ya gotta see that AMP in action! I loved that washer. Makes me want one...along with that '59 Frigi. LOL
Gorgeous machines. Let me know when you want to get together, and I will drive down to Angleton.

Learned a little while I was there, and that was a good thing!
Austin just blows me away with his knowledge of appliances. I went into a fog several times when he was talking to Glenn. ;0) LOL

Glenn, it was so good to finally meet you too. I hope you didn't get any of your "delicates" mixed in with Austin's, lol.

Reggie and family, so nice to meet all of you too. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your Texas Spring break, and have a safe trip home. Reggie, that little Hoover was great! So much more quieter than my dirt devil. Wanna sell it? *wink* lol

Now, I haven't looked at the photos yet...but if Austin put my pic on there, I am going to slap him! LOL j/k!

I'll post mine once I get them developed and transfered on a CD.

Lots of fun! That new "tag is the bomb! How 'bout more pix of that 'tag in action?

Speaking of action----have you set the 1-18 to fill up to the very top "ring" on the pulsator-----veeeeery splashy!

Even I could have fun with that GE. I like how the dispenser gives it that real wide filter spray! Very kewl! Oh yeah, I could do a Viva suds lock on that!

Looks like you all had a great time!
I had no idea that you got a AMP! That is super.
How did I miss that?
Did you find it in Texas?
Thanks for all of the pictures.
Brent
