The Last Time...

I encountered a religious group going door to door, I was out in the yard battling one of those obnoxious ground crawling vines that came under the fence into my domain, seemingly overnight. In the midst of hacking at it with a spade, I disturbed a yellow jacket nest that was just under the fence and was viscously attacked. I took about 4 stings to my face when I dropped the shovel and took off around the house to the garage. Just as a fine pair were walking up the driveway. Extending an arm to hand me a pamphlet, I responded with a stream of obscenities that could make a sailor blush and made a bee line for the house.

That was the last time I saw them.

About a month ago...

I was at a friends house whose parents had just personally installed a new roof and gutters a week earlier when a gutter sales person came to the door and said to them "I noticed you could use some new gutters." My friends father being a man with a dry humor said "What's wrong with my gutters? The lady responded with "they look a little shabby" He said that he had just installed them and not to bother asking about a roof either!

How about Edward Jones clowns knocking on every door in the country? They used to be a good firm, many moons ago, but know they are into door to door sales. Who in the heck actually markets securities door to door!? The last one who knocked and ignored my No Soliciting sign, I asked for his name and told him I would call FINRA if he ever showed up again. Needless to say, they haven't been back.
 
Back in the early 80's my roommate's brother found a solution to the JW problem. When they came knocking he'd run upstairs, put on his skimpiest speedo, then answer the door. He never saw the same people twice.

Now that I look back on it, I wonder why it worked. He was 6'3" with a soccer player's build, and covered in thick blond fur....

Logic is logic though. My cousin tried to get me to join the JW. My cousin is one of nicest people you could know mostly. I asked about the 144 thousand, and where the rest who don't go to heaven go. They come back here and live again. Ok, suppose a meteor hits earth? The book says it won't.
But it has happened before. One made the dinosaurs extinct.
Man is our own worst enemy. One way sure isn't the only way. Too many religions are like cults. Our creator'(s) weren't about religion, that's mans way.
Compassionate beings don't kill over religion, power, or money.
Certain things we are not meant to know or understand in this life. Like where we came from. We don't know that who or what made us wasn't made by another higher power. That in of it self should be enough to know to treat others with Love and dignity. Most of us know what is hurtful to our selves and others. To me, that is my test, so I do my best at it. I don't try to be perfect. It's not possible.
No distilled wisdom here, no thumping any books.
Most good people allow others their differences in belief's. Our differences can bring us together if we allow them to. Not lines between us.
I sure hope the human race lasts a lot longer, here, or somewhere else out there if the need to should present itself. Maybe thats where our spirits go, if we are deserving.

Some are reputable, don't collect a deposit, then dissapear, do good work.
Are they un American?
Some are scammers and thieves, like some on wall street, etc. Are they un American?

I used Empire Flooring numerous times in Baltimore,Florida and Hawaii. All three times their service was not only great but affordable too. I bought my cousin two rooms of flooring and her having a four bedroom three bath house,she was told if she paid for those two rooms being carpeted,they'd do the rest of the house free. Hardwood,vinyl or ceramic,or carpeting. After it was all completed,I paid only $3850. The kitchen and bath were done in ceramic tile, the bedrooms in carpeting and the rret in hardwood. I recommend them to anyone who needs new flooring.
